Residual effects of Clomid

We are taking a break this cycle. For the last two cycles I took 100mg of clomid. So I was looking forward to no side effects this month, but low and behold I am extremely cranky, crampy and hot all the time (I have the air on 65 and I'm still feeling sweaty). My RE never went over how long clomid stays in your system. Anyone experience clomid side effects when they were not taking clomid? Now I'm wondering if I'm still have side effects, will it also help me ovulate as well.

Re: Residual effects of Clomid

  • I've had the hot flashes for up to 2 weeks after my last clomid pill but never into another cycle.  I would def go to another RE, tho.  You don't want to waste too much time when dealing with IF.
    Good luck!

  • I did three cycles of clomid 50mg and am in the middle of a natural cycle. i haven't noticed any side effects, i actually feel a weight off my shoulders because the bad skin and crankiness are gone. however i do think it lingers around for a couple of months, so i'm sure that's what's to blame!

  • Well at least I don't feel like I'm crazy.

@iPutKetchupOnKetchup‌ I asked DH did he notice a difference in my crankiness and he said I'm always a little cranky and I lost it. I even told him unlike Mr. Ketchup I would never ask you to intro on the board because you are so insensitive...he just stood there with a blank look. Then I thought maybe it is still the clomid...I hope....lol!

  • The RE told me that one reason he prefers Femara is that the drug is completely out of your system before a pregnancy could take place (which is important too because he said Femara is more dangerous to a fetus than Clomid if it is taken during pregnancy). He said Clomid is still in a woman's system after implantation but it *shouldn't* harm a developing fetus.
