TTM about your adult ear infections

I have already done 10 days of amoxicillin, followed immediately by a zpack. Tomorrow is my last day of the zpack. I still have pain, pressure, and neck/shoulder pain. At least its only on the left. I want to be rid of this. When should I see an ENT? How many antibiotics will they try? What's the next step if a third one doesn't work?

Also, ugh...

  • I would get the referral to the ENT now. No point in dragging it out.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.

    I don't need a referral. I will call tomorrow.

  • That has to really suck. I take it yours is an inner ear infection? Ya, I would just see the specialist at this point. You might also need a stronger antibiotic.

I currently have an outer ear infection. Ouch! I get itchy ears which I need to be seen for and I was stupid and scratched it.

So basically ears are a total pain. I hope you feel better soon.

Here is my hold up about going to an ENT. My copay is outrageous...like unheard of high. I've already paid it twice. I thought about seeing if my reg dr would just call in some augmentin. And then go to the specialist if that doesn't work. Will the ENT do anything like drain it or anything in the office that would make a visit to them be worth it? I know it sounds ridiculous, but I don't want to pay another copay if they are just going to give me more antibiotics.

I took mucinex while I had one, it cleared up the fluid which got rid of most of the pain. My dr had also suggested Claritin but that makes me feel loopy so I went with the mucinex.

I've been taking Allegra D everyday. Maybe I should go get some Aleve D. That stuff is pretty great.

@ninah1506‌ How did that work? Did they do the IV at the dr office? You just went in three days in a row?
