Cloth Diapering

already having issues

Felix has peed through every type of diaper we have put on him. Disposable, AIO, AI2, prefold/cover, fitted, WAHM. I can't tell if I am doing something wrong or if he is just a crazy heavy wetter.

Could my diapers have not been prepped correctly and won't absorb? Could I not be using enough detergent?

Re: already having issues

  • If nothing works, my first thought would be if your getting a good snug fit. After the diaper is on pull his legs together and lift them up, then check for gaps. You want them pretty sung.

  • Are the diapers totally soaked, or are they kinda dry still?

  • Diapers are soaked. Not pointing down but could try and I do try and make sure that the fit is as snug as I can get

I had the same problem with P for the first couple of weeks. Prefolds with a good cover were all I could get to work. How often are you changing? I had to change her every hour and a half at most.

  • Some babies are just crazy heavy wetters. Do all of the above and try a doubler.

  • @TJ1979‌ I change about every 2-3 hours. Basically every time he wakes up to eat he gets changed. He hates diaper changes so much that I am afraid to wake him up to change him

I do seem to have better luck with prefolds and covers right now.

@Rrrrrachel‌ what kind of doubler would you suggest. What about charlie banana inserts? U

  • Sure why not! A full on inset is just going to be a little bulkier than adding a doubler, but if it's what you have on hand go for it. I like hemp and bamboo doublers.
