Disney World with a 6 month old. Am I nuts?

So I'm planning what has become almost an annual trip to Disney World in Orlando in early December and DD will be 6 months old then ( much like the rest of your LO's of course) and I am just wondering if any of you STM have gone to Disney with a similarly aged LO.  I've been there a lot without kids, and I know they have parent swap for certain rides and the one nursing station per park.  Any other tips or tricks?  I just read a lot online today about women who nursed their LO's on the slow rides.  I was shocked at some of them that infants were even allowed on, so that is nice.  Also, I'm debating on whether I should drive or fly.  If we fly we'd have to also fly a stroller and car seat.  Anyone experienced in that as well?

  • We went when our daughter was about 9 months old and it was great. We had never been but MIL loves it and invited (paid for) us. My daughter loved watching the people and lights and listening to the music. We traded off for rides. She happily napped in the stroller so we didn't have to go back to the hotel unless we wanted. We live in San Diego so flying was the only option.

Did you fly a stroller or car seat too?

I don't think you're crazy! I would go right now if I could. Closest I have to experience though is taking my toddler to Disneyland for his 1st birthday. It was a great trip :)
  • We are going mid-November when LO will be 5 months. Dd1 is 3 and begging to go. We took her when she was about 6 months the first time and it was really fun. Each park has a mothers room with rocking chairs and nice changing pads, microwaves, etc. Lots of moms nursing all over though.

LO can go on pretty much every ride that is not a roller coaster.

I highly recommend a carrier though. We loved the ergo. Easy for lines and makes the rides feel more secure.

It's also an easy age since they're not really eating and bottles/nursing are easy to give.

We are annual passholders since we live in FL and plan to go often this year. PM me with any questions. I have lots of tips!

  • I have flown with a stroller and car seat.  They have always bagged and checked the car seat at the check in desk for free.  Then we have let DD ride in the stroller all the way to the gate.  When we are boarding we take the stroller all the way to right before we get on the plane and leave it there.  The baggage guys come take it and put it under the plane.  When we land its at the gate right when we get off the plane and DD goes back in it.
