2nd Trimester

High frequency

Today I am 3 months. I just started my second trimester. I had a facial today where the esthetician did high frequency to zap some blemishes. I heard this is not allowed while being pregnant. Can someone please tell me why? I know its electric current and need to know if my baby is OK. Thank you

Re: High frequency

  • Figured someone went through the same thing and could give me some insight. Thank you for the reply.

  • I really don't have any experience with this, but if you're concerned, ask your doctor.

  • I checked a few sources online, and high-frequency facial treatments are not recommended during pregnancy. Check with your doctor. I doubt that one treatment is really going to cause issues, but it would definitely be better to consult with a medical professional.

  • I DID check online and most places don't even do this. So when she started to turn it on and zap my face within a matter of seconds....I was concerned and stopped her the second time.
  • A) We can't tell you if your baby is ok.
    B) Someone else's experience is not yours & means absolutely zilch for the well-being of your fetus currently.
    C) wouldn't it be best to ask your OB before you do questionable shit?

High frequency facial applications are not safe because they force product into the facial skin. You need to contact your OB, explain the situation & see what he/she wants to do.

Honestly, I would imagine any damage to your fetus would be relatively minor, if any at all. Then again, I'm not the medical professional in charge of your care.

Look to your provider, not the internet to assess the health of your pregnancy.
