Car seat / stroller combo

I'm SO out of the loop on this whole topic. Idk what is actually safe, what questions I should be asking and if I saw a good deal, I probably wouldn't know it.

I'm in love with this because of the pattern alone but am wondering why the car seat is $110 & the combo is $149? Is a stroller really $30?!...I think not :/

  • Lol. No catch. I have the same set (in the all black model tho) and I too noticed the drastic savings when buying the set vs the pieces individually. I love how unique this one is!!! It has great reviews and awesome price!

  • it's really cute!! the only thing i notice is it's pretty heavy at 42 pounds but as long as you don't have a lot of stairs going into your house then it shouldn't be a problem.

  • It is cheaper to go with the combo option! Unfortunately they didn't have mine available (in store or to ship) in a combo..so we opted to mix & match separately. $319 for the combo vs $420 when we bought it separately. $-)
  • Cute!!  I've heard good things about that brand, but don't know much about that particular set.  We're gettinog the city mini gt w/britax carseat adapter & the britax b-safe carseat.  It's not the most cost-effective out there, it's just our favrite.
We are carseat and stroller twins!

I would try to go to the store and see how heavy it is and how easily it folds down, OP!  I really like the look of it though!

  • I don't think there is any catch. We got our stroller and carseat from Zellers last time for $150. It's not my favorite thing in the world and I had issues getting the carseat out of the base in the car. That was a manufacturing error which they will fix though. Just make sure to read reviews and what not. All carseats have to meet a minimum standard.
  • Definitely go into the store and take it for a test drive.   Some of the cheaper strollers really handle poorly.  (Think of a bad grocery cart with a bad wheel.  Annoying!!)

And that one does seem to be on the heavy side.  42 pounds is a lot.  (My stroller this time around is 16 and still feels like it has a fair bit of weight to it.)

But yes - the price is great and it is cute.  :)

  • is 42lbs a misprint? that seems too heavy to be true
  • I bet we looked for 3 months for combos. We just couldn't get everything we wanted. I wanted a hot pink set with jogger but stroller was bulky. My mom wanted me to get a Chico. Hated the way it folded up! I ended up sitting on a bench at 4th of July festival and watched everyone walk by with their strollers. I bought my combo the next day. Made it super easy to see what I didn't want.

My double stroller that converts to literally every stage until my kids are much older, is only 33lbs. 42 seems very heavy.
  • I got a consumer reports online account to research best car seat/strollers and hands down chicco was the best for both.
  • I second @mightymo85 's recommendation. We got the Chicco set. You can do some mixing and matching, so we got the Keyfit30 carseat and the Liteway Plus stroller. I thought it was AWESOME that the carrier fits in an umbrella stroller (which we will be able to use for a longer time). It's lightweight and handles beautifully, and the carseat is ranked #1 in the U.S. for ease of use and installation.

I read that the shipping weight was 42lbs and assumed that was for shipping both items together....apparently I didn't read that right lol. I have a crappy back so that definitely wouldn't be the way to go : /

  • I think I might be going with this set.    I was leaning toward the Eddie Bauer endurance jogging stroller,  or the Graco Click connect jogging stroller..........but the Eddie Bauer one has a very small storage basket underneath,  and the Graco is super heavy @ 36 pounds.

This set is 41 pounds total for everything,  the stroller itself is 27.   The basket underneath is a nice size too.
