How many different countries have you traveled to?

Besides the country you live in, how many different countries have you been to? Don't count it if you've only been in the airport -- you have to have left the airport and spent at least an hour or two in the country.

Re: How many different countries have you traveled to?

  • Somewhere in the 9-12 range. I lucked out in having an English father and therefore relatives to go visit in England. Growing up we'd do a week with family and then a week somewhere else in Europe. We also spent two years during high school living in England.

All that travel was pre-20yo though. Since then things have not been the same and I've been to Mexico and the B.V.I.. I really want to take DH to visit where I lived in England, but it's just so freaking expensive!

  • 21 (I think):

In order: Canada, Bahamas, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, France, Luxembourg, England, Monaco, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Vatican City, Liechtenstein, Spain, China, Aruba, Dominican Republic

A lot of those are from college.  I got lucky and traveled every summer while I was in school.  We've done a decent amount of traveling since we got married, just not quite as many countries.

I was on my way to doing 30 countries by 30 until kids got in the way :)

  • I'm such a homebody. On the one hand I'm jealous of all the cool places people have traveled to, on the other hand I'm to lazy to plan an interesting vacation. I think the only reason DH and I ended up going to Hawaii for out honeymoon was becasue his aunt and uncle had just gone and could basically plan our trip for us.

  • I did a big European excursion before we started trying for #1. My SIL and I did a Latin Teacher institute in Italy and I have relatives in the Netherlands and England. So it was a pretty inexpensive trip, relatively speaking.
Plus Canada when I was young.

  • 2. Mexico and Canada.

I totally jealous of those that have been to lots of countries, but I have a fear of flying over large bodies of water.

DH is a homebody, so our trips are usually in the country with family, but: Jamaica, Mexico, Canada, Italy, Bahamas.

Whoops just remembered the cruises from high school: Belize, Bermuda, Aruba, Curacao.

  • We were lucky enough to live in Germany for 3 years. We traveled allot.
Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Vatican City, Spain, Czech, Turkey, Egypt, Malta, England.
We were supposed to go to Greece, but our ship couldn't pull into port. :((

    I've also been to Canada.

We are hoping to get another assignment to Europe after he is done here. I really want to travel more while we can! Plus, it's the best living over seas!

ETA: it's actually 13, Easter Island is a part of Chile.  I always forget it's not its own country

    I picked 9-12 range:

France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Monaco, Bahamas, Canada, England, Scotland.

I have also been to Bermuda, but that's technically a British territory as well as driving through Austria (got pictures at the border, but didn't do any other activities there.)
