Refusing Breast While Teething

Hi Ladies,

My LO woke up screaming at the top of his lungs last night and I offered the breast after trying to comfort him but he would not take! I gave him a bottle after about 5 minutes (seemed like forever!) and he drank 1.5 oz before he took the breast again.  I've never felt so rejected in my life! 

Does teething affect babies' desire to nurse?  Does it hurt their gums or something?  Any insight is welcome.  Thanks!
