I would just use the big bottles from the get go. We were able to use the 4oz bottles until about 8 weeks and then had to switch. The small ones are a little more comfortable to hold when feeding a newborn, but the big ones (we have 8oz bottles) work just fine. If I could go back, I probably would have just bought the big bottles from the beginning.
We have 4 9 oz bottles. Thats it. Never felt the need for more bottles (I SAH, so I understand that moms who go to work might need more, I dunno) or smaller bottles.
Re: How many bottles?
Maybe around 6 of them. LO is 13 weeks and we just broke out the bigger bottles.
