Amniotic fluid low , how high or low is yours?

Just left doctors appt. afi was at 7.3 doctor said it was low it went from 11-7.3 makes me nervous he checked for leaking and didn't see anything ferning. Last week there was a scare with leakin but he ruled it out .

Has anyone else had low fluids during their pregnancy ?

It's not dangerously low but freaks me out especially reading online . I'm drinking plenty of water

  • Ok maybe mine was checked because now I'm considered high risk don't worry about never being checked . Maybe I should have asked has anyone's levels ever been low and why?

I've had mine measured twice, but honestly, I don't ask for the number.  I trust my MFM when he says "excellent fluid level", or "fluid level is WNL".  If there was a decrease or an issue I know my MFM would explain the measurements and delta, so I trust him in that regard.

Have you considered seeking a second opinion on this issue? What sort of follow-up has been ordered?

  • The follow up ordered was to have another and continuous fluid checks so the next one is Friday , I had been drinking so much water so not sure what else I can do besides that .
  • This literally made me laugh lol i got a vision of that movie !! Did your doctor seem concerned at all did he say to rest or anything ?

If your doctor doesn't see a problem, I wouldn't worry much.
Drink lots of fluids! Like over do it! My doctor said it helps increase the amount of amniotic fluid.

I haven't been told specific numbers - but I've not gotten an ultrasound since 20 weeks. I asked at that visit and was told it was "Fine".  Agree with PP, drink more and if the doctor doesn't seem worried I wouldn't be.

  • With my last ultrasound my level was just about 16. I had more with ds- when my water broke it was insane.
Drink lots of fluids- like crazy over do it until you feel like you're swimming every day. I've also heard that relaxing/feet up can help too.
