Trouble TTC

I am way too impatient >:(

edited July 2014 in Trouble TTC

We have talked about what we do during our TWW but what do you do in between AF and your O day to keep your mind off waiting to try again? I feel completely powerless, at least during the TWW I have something to hope for.  I have read about what happens to some of us during the IUI and IVF prep so I bet your TWW almost feels like a little Vacay for your Vag….

I am type A and feel at ease with I am focused on something, so just waiting to O is worse than the TWW for me.

  • BTW if I ever say something stupid I am sorry. I don't mean to insult or hurt someone. I really appreciate the community here and this is the only place I can actually ask these questions. So thank you!

  • I agree the waiting to O is very nerve-wracking. I am worrying will i O? How many follies will I have? Etc. Anyway, I am trying to keep busy with things around the house, reading, reorganizing some rooms, visiting friends, cooking nice dinners. I'm also spending time researching a lot of things related to IF and costs so I know what to expect. I find it's hard not to think about though! For me the best activities are where my mind is occupied like reading or watching a movie. if I'm focused on the plot I'm not thinking about it!

  • Since we were told to really TI, like nothing at all after AF ends to first +opk, I feel worse for DH lol, but I think doing opk has actually helped keep me focused and waiting for that positive is exciting. Plus, I think of it as time to do things I won't have the brain for once i'm in the TWW cause all bets are off then :)

    Me:26 DH:27
    Married Oct 2011
NTNP for about a year before actively
    TTC since April 2013
Currently testing for infertility cause and hormone imbalance.
Infertility & ovarian cyst diagnosis: May '14
B/W: 'good', more ordered to check antibodies & progesterone
    SA: Normal :)
U/Ss for cyst: who the f knows
DH's cat scan: showed encapsulated fatty growth; u/s: didn't really show much more
Breast Specialist: Most likely a large fibroid, but keeping an eye on it, repeat u/s every 6mos
HSG: clear tubes, uterus is A-ok
WHAT'S NEXT: DH's consult with surgeon to discuss next step for growth, either biopsy or surgery~Big discussion with Dr. before any possibility of starting Clomid, since I'll want another u/s before and to be monitored and he doesn't seem into that. I had to force his hand just to order the AMH test so may be looking for another OB
    ~All welcome :) ~
Cycle 3 of OPK; Cycle 2 (this time around) of Temping

  • I have been thinking about reorganizing the whole house then have a garage sale! If I start to read a good book then I can't put it down... like I might have an actual problem.... I love to host parties but it is hard to get people involved sometimes.

  • I'm the same I'm very impatient too. It's a frustrating cycle. And it doesn't help that AF really messes with my emotions. So I try to keep busy at work and. When I'm home I clean -ALOT. Doesn't help that I have OCD too :/ best of luck :) let me know of you find anything better that helps keep your mind off of it.
  • I always bake, mani and pedi, facials, massages. I do things I enjoy doing when budget allows. I try not to talk about it or think about it for that matter.

I wish I could stop thinking about it. It is like all I can think of. :( I think in part it is because before treatment there was zero chance we would get pregnant, not there is at least a snow balls chance in hell and so I just want to try but with there only being 1 to 3 days a month that actually makes is possible, I feel like the other 28 days are wasted time.

  • I have kind of the opposite feeling from you, actually. I feel like the first part of a cycle is more active on my part, thinking of timing intercourse and IUI, temping, making sure to BD so he has properly fresh sperm, and basically just enjoying that all the possibilities are ahead of me. I think it also helps that the hormones at that stage put me in a better mood to enjoy BDing, and I'm less bloated before O so clothes fit better and I just feel better. Once I O, I feel really fatalistic that either I'm pregnant or I'm not. That wait is so awful that I just enjoy being in the follicular phase when the chance comes.

  • As someone who has been off birth control for a year and still haven't ovulated, I have perfected the art of waiting.  A good book is a must, wine, house projects, plan a vacation, adopt a pet, try new recipes, visit friends.  Basically just enjoy what you can.  If not you will go crazy, and regret wasting so much time not really living life.

  • DH & I usually start to HIO around CD7 until just before AF is expected. From the charting I have done it looks like I'm a late O'er but he doesn't need to know that ;) We have fun in the process and "warm up" for the big fertile days. It helps to reconnect us I think because all this TTC/loss/IF business sucks balls. ETA: we BD every other day during that time.
