Another OALD/Imbalance question

DS is 6.5 weeks old.  I've been block nursing in 3 hour blocks for the last 4 weeks.  I've also been dairy free for 5 weeks which has cut down on all of his major gas issues.  DS's poops were yellow and seedy until last Sunday they suddenly turned green.  We got back to yellow for a few days and now his poop is consistently green and watery in the morning, but by evening is watery and yellow with a slight green tinge.

I really thought I had my imbalance issue fixed, but now this green poop is totally throwing me off. He goes to bed at 7 and wakes at 12:30 and 4:30.  The MOTN feedings are really short.  Sometimes the 4:30 feeding is only 5 min. I'm wondering if he's only getting foremilk during these feedings since they are so short and if that is causing the green poop.  He nurses every 2.5-3 hours during the day and they are full feedings.  Perhaps that's why his poop is yellow by the end of the day?

Any thoughts?  Suggestions?  Will my oversupply ever regulate? I'm just so frustrated and worry that there is a problem I haven't thought of.

Re: Another OALD/Imbalance question

  • I know it isn't pleasant to look at but back when I was dealing with imbalance my pedi said that it wasn't the end of the world. She said it's not great if LO isn't getting hind milk but it isn't dangerous if not permanent/all the time. So, if it's really only those 2 feedings then maybe it isn't a big worry?
