Cloth Diapering

New here.. would this washer be helpful?

Hello all! I have lurked quite a bit and have found this board to be so helpful as I begin to build my cloth diapering stash. One thing I haven't quite wrapped my brain around is washing the diapers, so I am sure I will be back to ask questions about that! I happened to find this washer on amazon. I guess it is new here in the US. It is obviously expensive so I am not even sure if I am considering it, but the small size would mean we could keep it on a main level of the house and it would cut down on all my trips to the basement to wash the cloth diapers. As cloth diaper experts, do you think something like this would be helpful? Or just not worth it? Thanks for the advice! https://www.samsung.com/us/appliances/washers-dryers/WB09H7300GW/A1

  • It's a fancy portable washer. It will work perfect but for the price I would not buy it. There is other portable washer the are half the price the will do the same job . Look for other options to se wish now you like, and if you can afford it get it.

  • It would defiantly work, but is kind of small. I would think you would have to wash everyday. With your regular washer you could do larger loads. If you have a decent stash you should only have to wash every two to three days. Most regular washer have a 3-4 cubic foot capasity, compared to this only being .9. So it's not like you will have to make a daily trip to the basement. But if you have the money to spend and don't mind a few more loads of laundry go for it.

  • It looks pretty fancy. My concern would be that it looks like it needs dedicated hot/cold water hookups and a place to drain. If you have the space and the money, and want to do more frequent, smaller loads, why not. With a .9 capacity it might be nice to just wash a ON diaper immediately, by itself, instead of waiting 1-2 days for a full diaper load. But you really just have to think about how you would like to use your time and space.
  • If you already have a washing machine, it would seem like a waste to me. I don't see the need for a dedicated machine for baby stuff. You can do an extra rinse on a regular machine, and there is no need to sanitize your babies clothes. You can't use that high temp on diapers anyway...
