Help - Best Formula?

I am not breast feeding my baby and using formula. I just found out my hospital offers Similac, Enfamil, and Gerber Goodstart. According to the hospital, the choice is completely up to me which one to start my boy with. As a FTM, I'm looking for some opinions on which one of these others may think is best. I know it depends on the baby but I still need to choose one to start him on. From my research on the internet Goodstart seems to be the one that breaks down the proteins the most and is said to be the easiest on the baby's stomach. Opinions?

  • You might also ask your pedi. When I was supplementing they would give me formula at every appointment. So we used emfamil just because that is what they would give us.

  • I have used both enfamil and similac for my oldest kiddos. Both worked just fine. I would also suggest asking your pediatrician and even the hospital when you are there for recommendations and samples if they have any on the chance that you need to switch. It's really up to you in the beginning.
  • To be completely honest, you can gather all the opinions you want on this topic, but you really never know until baby arrives what formula will work best for them.  And that's just the simple truth.  I'd gather whatever free samples you can and see what baby does best with.  Good luck!
