***Making A Home Monday***

What makes your house/apartment/condo/etc a home for you?

For me, we rent so just adding our personal touches and making it feel warm and cozy with decorations make our house feel like a home!

  • I guess right now we are looking forward to the new house and when I'm done renovating everything I'm sure it will feel like home :)

TTC#1 May 2009- July 2010 on our own with no luck

Started with RE in August 2010, dx with unexplained IF and then finally our 3rd IUI cycle using Follistim and Trigger resulted in our wonderful little man.  Born 12/2/11

TTC#2 Never really prevented, but were careful early on as Dr. reccomended

Surprise BFP 12/16/13, started progesterone immediately as first numbers came back low, but betas were good.  Progesterone wasnt enough. Natural MC 12/24/13.

Back with RE as of January 2014...

    5/27/14- Chemical Pregnancy :(

    April 2015 IVF#1

    5/13/15- BFP, please stick LO!

Oh and I'm a major Harry Potter Nerd :)

  • We moved in over a year ago and I STILL haven't finished putting shit on the walls. In fact, just yesterday I finally put some decor on our main living room wall which we see every damn day. I suck. So I guess for me, putting small decor touches on it makes it a home. Oh and growing a garden. Even if it's just an herb garden. Something living out back makes it real.

  • We got a fabulous deal on a house in a great neighborhood because it was a piece of CRAP when we moved in due to the previous renter tenants being hoarders. Seriously, you should have seen the shit they left in this house. Apparently it was so bad that the neighbors had rats from the hoard. (gone by the time we moved in) We have put years of hard work and love into this house and now it is all ours and I love my beautiful home even more because we had to work so hard on it. :)

  • We've owned our house for 10 years and everything about it says home to me.  One of my happiest memories is coming home with DD.  And I'm with you @Jodee37 - we're growing herbs, tomatoes, peppers and watermelons this year which makes me extremely happy.

I agree the personal touches make it my home. Jodee37 I haven't finished decorating my walls after a year either. As weird as this may sound my absolute favorite thing that makes my house feel like my own is the washer and dryer. We came from an apartment building with shared laundry and I hated it. I hated dragging the laundry and DS down to the basement several times a week. Doing the wash in my own house makes me very happy and makes me realize wow we actually own this place and have it all to ourselves!

  • Our home doesn't feel like "us". We lived in a condo up until a few years ago when we decided DS deserved grass to play on and I still miss it. I'm not cut out for this gardening crap, suburbia and all. I preferred spending time getting out and about in the city or traveling rather than spending our time and money on household chores.
