TTC after 35

My crazy July (and a bfp warning)...

Hi ladies. Sorry I've been a bit MIA lately. July has turned out to be one hell of a month. I found out at the end of June that my father has prostate cancer, so for 4th of July weekend, my husband and I went down to spend sometime with my folks. The following week was my hubby's 35th birthday and I planned a pretty huge surprise party for him, which was a success (20s Prohibition themed). Then this weekend was a get together planned with several internet friends (we originally met on the knot and then moved over to Facebook). We'd been in touch since our weddings last year and thought it was time to finally meet so I flew to Nashville, met one friend there and drive to Cleveland to meet 4 more. Just got back last night. (here is where things get interesting)

Obviously the 2WW has been busy so I've been distracted. I was not hopeful this cycle because with travelling to Miami, I was sure that our timing was off. On top of that I had absolutely 0 symptoms. Well apparently my timing wasn't as off as I'd thought. My period was expected while I was away this weekend and as I was driving back yesterday I knew I'd have to POAS. I took a HPT and had a mid-level dark line (like 50% opacity) last night. Knowing that better results come in the morning, I tested again and got the exact same result (still only 50% dark). So I stopped by CVS and got a Clearblue one and tested when I got to work today. Full blown +. I'm still in shock and awe because I'd still pretty much written off this cycle and thought I'd have August with no travelling to be able to really make it work. But I think I might actually be PG. I don't want to get too excited because (a) its still early and anything can happen and (b) I still need to verify my results with my Dr. But I'm doing a little happy dance right now.

  • Congrats!!! I love hearing BFPs. I am sorry to hear about your dad, medicine is so good for prostate cancer I've heard and so with all hope and prayer he'll be fine. xx

I'm very sensitive to diet (gluten, avoid processed foods) and environment. Have a history of inflammation and tendinitis before going off gluten in 2009.
July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes.  Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube.  If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help.  Doubts I have endometriosis.  My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
    Seriously considering IVF in March/April
    12/17/14 - Natural BFP!
  • Congratulations!!!  I hoope your father is soon on his way to recovery, and you enjoy a healthy pregnancy!
  • Thanks @hooligans4. I'm sad to be moving on too. Hoping I can at least hang around until my 1st u/s because anything can happen between now and then.

So happy to see this news! I love Monday morning BFPs.

I'm sorry to hear about your father's diagnosis. My FIL was recently diagnosed, and from what I understand, the treatments are much more developed than they used to be. Some are non-invasive. I hope that the solution is simple and not harsh. Sending a big bear hug your way. >:D<

  • Thanks @URMySunshine77 (and cute GIF)! It appears that there are several modern treatment options available for my dad and he will be ok. The word "cancer" is always scary to hear, but things have come so far where modern medicine is concerned, I am confident he will do well.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and well wishes! I love you all!
