Dropping Bottle--13 months

Hi, I'm a mom of a 5 yr old and a 13 month old.  My 5 yr old successfully weaned herself from the bottle at 15 months.  I would like to get my 13 month old started on the weaning process.  He only gets bottles before naps and bedtime but still wakes up in middle of the night too, expecting a bottle to get back to sleep, and I have given in.   I think it will be a lot easier if I drop the naptime bottles first to help him get over this suck-to-sleep association.  Looking for some tips on how to ease the transition, like what I can do to comfort him before naps instead of using the bottle?  I currently rock him and have a special blanket that I give him.

We went cold turkey and switched to sippy cup or straw cup for milk or water (DD doesn't get juice) at about 14 months.  The first day was hell.  The 2nd day not so bad and the 3rd day no problem.  Put all the bottles away so LO can't even see them to point and ask for one and just go for it.  Be consistent.
