Workout thread 7/21-7/27

So happy I got out of bed and worked out already. It has been way too easy to sleep in (7:00, woo-hoo) on MWFs, and say I'll just work out during DS's nap. But then I always regret it. I am so much happier when I get it out of the way first thing.

I'm turning 34 next week, and have decided what better time in my life then to start really stretching to be able to do a center split.  Am I delusional to think that my body will be able to do something I have not done since I was probably 10?  I have no idea why I want to do a center split, and I have a loooonnnnggg way to go, but I feel like I would be pretty proud if I could.

  • I worked out and sweated like woah. I feel bloated and gross though. So disheartening.
  • Started week 3 of the 90 day challenge @thebanich recommended. I've been working out 5-6 days a week got over a month now. Still no weight change. But I feel good. And I can see some changes. I just wish the belly part would start to shrink. Ah well, I'm just going to keep at it.

    It took me until week four to really notice changes. I'm sure if I had eaten better my results would have been better :\">

    I did good last week putting everything I ate into sparkpeople. I was amazed at how many calories I was eating before.

  • I went to the gym after work and worked on shoulders and back. I will run tonight and hopefully Wed and Fri.

  • I'd been slacking over the weekend but did barre class tonight. I still have to take breaks but I did way better on plank than any previous weeks. Going running tomorrow morning and then it'll be 30ds rest of the week since H will be OOT.

    What exercises can I do to make my butt rounder? I've been doing some squats and lunges, but I don't have any weights at home. Yes, this is a serious question.

  • Got up and got my workout in this morning, ds woke up just as I was putting my weights away. Glad I got it in. I am extra motivated with my eating now after seeing the results on got with my profile yesterday. If I lost that much with 3/4 assing it, imagine how good I could do if I really buckle down?

  • @jesuisfatiguee‌, to round out your butt you should really think about adding some weight to your squats. When you see those nice round butts it is from muscle, and your body can handle some pretty heavy weight for squats.
    Do you go to a gym? Using the stairmill for cardio is good. Or just doing stairs. Spend some time going up your stairs 2 at a time. Bonus points if you hold weights. Stepping up and down onto something relatively high (I used to use my coffee table before I got my box). Again, bonus if you hold some weight :)

  • Thanks @BluepointToasted! I do have a coffee table and I can hold some gallon jugs of water while I step up and down.

  • I have plenty of ass, it just needs some rounding out. I did not have an ass when I was thin. A guy friend once told me, "You have like the least amount of ass you could have and still be considered black. If it gets any smaller we'll have to reclassify you." :))

  • @ShakeyJakey - I have been doing this one, which has toned up my legs some, but my butt just wants to shrink.


    I like some of her other stuff, too. I do her Beginners Power Yoga class often, and sometimes an ab sequence.

  • I ran a road race last week pushing DD in the stroller and did pretty well. I was very happy with my time.

    Then I went to my friend's house this weekend and am on vacation now, so I've only been working out every other day and eating hasn't been great. I tried to get up to run before our flight out here yesterday but just couldn't get out of bed. My goal is to workout every day from here on this week, and I'm pretty sure I can fit them in. I did a 3 mile run and lifted legs this morning, so that was good!

  • That paper plate workout actually looks really good! Last week my trainer made me put sliders under my feet (like you use to slide furniture, so same concept) and get in plank position, then walk my hands across the room. My entire core was super sore the next day. It was super challenging

  • I didn't twist it badly! It didn't even hurt because I collapsed onto my butt instead of putting any pressure on it. I just know (from experience) once I do it once, it's likely to happen again. I quit while I was ahead ;)

  • Just got back from the gym, eating second breakfast :)
    Trained upper body this morning. Am really fascinated by how much weaker my left side is. I never had that kind of imbalance before ds, could it really be just from picking up his little body??

    I imagine so. Even my left leg is weaker than my right these days.
