Trouble TTC

I think it's about time.

Hi ladies.

I decided it's about time I intro'd over here since I've been asking questions.

A little about me:
I am 24 years old. Married to my DH two years in September. I have one gorgeous fur baby named Kane, he is a purebred Doberman and he will be 2 years old tomorrow. I just graduated nursing school this past May and I currently work at a children's hospital (one if the nations top ten might I add :) ) as a Patient Care Technician until a RN position opens up on the floor that I am currently on.

My TTC journey this far:
Since I got my very first period they have been ridiculously irregular- only getting them 2-3 times a year. When I was 18 I was worked up for PCOS.. Lab work and ultrasound confirmed my diagnosis. I was given provera and then started BCP. Had a period every month while on BCP. Fast forward 5 years later and we decided we were ready to start a family. I stopped using the BCP in September. I did have one short cycle (45 days) and was excited about that because I thought somehow those years on BCP helped get my cycles shorter. Well I was wrong. My next cycle was 91 days long and ended with provera, the next one after that was 122 days and again ended with provera. And now I just started taking provera again to end this cycle. I went to see my ob at the end of May/beginning of June and she offered me clomid or a re referral.. I took the referral but I've been putting it off because I'm really nervous about it. I finally tried to call and make the appt on Friday but I called too late so tmw is the day.

I'm extremely nervous about this process and I'm glad there are boards like these for support. The ladies at 3T have already been so nice and I even received a few PM and I'm excited to get to know you guys better!
I am all ears if you ladies have any advice for me!

Andddd can I end with a question? I don't mean to pick your brains alreadyy but since provera is my best friend I have taken it a handful of times and always take once a day for 10 days, has anybody ever had experience taking It twice a day for 5 days?

Welcome! I too was nervous when I called about a RE appointment and actually started crying! After though I was so relieved that someone would be able to help me and I felt much better. I hope you are able to get a consult set up today!

I too have taken Provera but only the once daily dose. I got very dizzy and tired with it so I always took it at night. I would recommend asking about when to take Provera vs when your consult will be today when you call. if I had known previously I would've timed my consult with cd3 and gotten things going much more quickly and saved some office visit $. Anyway, good luck!!

  • I don't have a diagnosis yet, but I am currently about halfway through my first course of Provera to bring on a period so I can finish my testing.  I wanted to say welcome though!

I also had to reply because my husband and I have a purebred Doberman too!  He's our gentle giant (looks scary but is really a big baby).  Our Remy is 3 1/2 years old.  He's definitely a handful, but overall they're such great dogs who sometimes get a bad rap because they are so fierce looking!

  • Welcome to the board, hope your stay is short!  Don't be too nervous about the RE.  I was excited like the day before my birthday before my RE appointment.  Finally getting some help and talking to someone who knows what they are doing relieved a lot of stress for me.
