Success after IF

Update on weaning and Qn

Hi

We are 2 days into no BF'ing at all after our need to stop BF'ing for my medical reasons. LO forgot to ask Friday night for the boob before bed and again last night so things are looking good. I too am OK with the change, physically I have no lumps or pain so that is great, mentally, I am just Ok with it, very weird though. Thanks for the advice.

My question is that I have 45oz of frozen BM in the freezer all around 2+ months old in 2-5oz batches. Am I crazy to think I can have someone (not me, maybe the babysitter I have in the AM while I work from home) offer this to LO? Would this be going backwards with all the weaning work I have done? If not, then what else can I do with it?

Multiple ectopics, 2 failed IVF's
IVF #1: Did not get to ET, embies all failed PGD (major chromosomal defects)
IVF #2: We have 2 chromosomally perfect embies as a result of PGD (Boy/Girl) 1 failed the thaw (Girl) Transferred 1, yet ended as a c/p
Thought it was the end of our TTC Journey 6/20/2012
SHOCK BFP 9/28/2012: IT'S A BOY! and everything is normal !!!!!!

Little A born 38w 2d on 05/23/13 and is a true miracle for this IF Vet!

No, I don't think you'd be going "backwards."  It's totally different IMO - getting BM via a bottle vs directly from the source.  Just have someone offer it to LO.  If your LO doesn't want it, you can always use it in cooking?  I used to cook M's oatmeal with my frozen BM.

ETA: congrats on the weaning.  It's okay to feel sad about stopping BFing and it's okay to mourn it, IMO.  I weaned at 16m b/c I felt it was time for both of us to stop.  I thought I was ready but I was still really sad about it for 2 weeks.  I cried several times during those 2 weeks.  But after that, it got better.  And I remember that when M turned 17m, I felt like BFing was ancient history.  Now the idea of M nursing from my boobs just seem absurd, even though I did this for hist first 16m of his life (and he's only 20m now).

  • It's definitely okay to have someone else offer it. Does he drink WCM? DS refused frozen BM once he started drinking WCM. You could also try mixing them.

Definitely use it! I can't remember how old LO is, but maybe even try it in a sippy cup or straw cup so it's even less boob like. But I don't think you would be mixing signals. Don't waste all that precious gold!
