When do cervix checks start? UPDATE

I'm 17 weeks. I have an early anatomy scan tomorrow due to a family genetic issue.  I then have my anatomy scan and an appointment with my OB at 20 weeks. When do they start to check your cervix?   Is this done by your OB or the sono tech while doing the US?  

There were 3 ladies at my job out on bed rest for months this year due to cervical shortening and this is one of my fears.

Update 7/21

I asked the US tech when the cervix would be checked.  She said she would do it and she said it looked normal!  She said she can check again at the 20 week AS.

They might look at it at the anatomy scan but my OB didn't do cervical checks, either via u/s or manually (until the final month, where they're looking for progress, not worried about shortening).  I think a lot of OBs won't do them if you don't have symptoms of cervical shortening like spotting or other risk factors like multiples.

I have my cervix checked at every appointment, but I'm having twins and have a history of cervical issues (colposcopy, LEEP, polyp). They aren't checking for dilation per se, just to see if it is still long, thick, and closed. They will press on my stomach to check for funneling too. My ob's tech does it abdominally through ultrasound, which is not as accurate but gives them a general idea, while my MFM does a transvaginal ultrasound to see my cervix much more accurately. I have had issues with funneling so that also might be why they check me every week.

At my A/S, the u/s tech measured my cervix during the u/s. The OB was happy with the length so there was no need for a transvaginal u/s. I don't remember actual cervical checks until much later in my pregnancy with DS, maybe the last month.

I asked about this also. My doc did a check at,y a/s and it looked fine and they have not done another one since. I go on Friday but I am not expecting her to look. I am like you and fear that there could be an issue, but is try to keep it out of my head. If my doc thought it was important to check or thought I may have issues I feel like she would check. So I am trying to trust my doc. You can always ask for checks or at least ask if you should be having them.

I'm carrying twins and see an MFM. No mention of cervix checks for me either which seemed strange. I have A/S tomorrow so I'm going to ask...

I had one at 16 weeks as a baseline because I'm considered high risk due to a cervical surgery. Most doctors only check if there is a reason, like a pp said.

Thanks ladies!  I guess I just worry about everything.  I'm going to ask the sono tech tomorrow at the early anatomy scan and see if they are looking at it tomorrow.

I was worried about this, too. My doctor isn't starting mine until 24 weeks. I'm having twins but no history of cervical issues.

I am having twins and my OB is doing a cervix check at 14 weeks. This is my first pregnancy.

I am having twins and my OB has checked it everytime I am there.  We will move to every two weeks when I hit 24 weeks she told me today...
