Hitting milestones at a different pace?

My twin girls are 4 1/2 months now, and Brianna has figured out how to roll over. She is also moving in circles around the crib. Alaina on the other hand hates tummy time, and majorly freaks out. She still hasn't rolled over yet, and is not moving around the crib like her sister. Should I be worried? B rolled over for the first time last week....

Very common. It's hard not to compare because it's right there in front of you, but it's not fair to one lagging behind. H crawls all over the place, pulls himself up to a stand and even balances on his own and E just sits there and watches him. She hates the crawl position and as much as she loves to sit, she can't get there herself. For most things she is just a week or two behind, but she's such a laid back baby she doesn't seem to want to explore on her own like H.

  • So normal. Try not to compare; easier said than done. One of my girls was first for all her physical milestones, the other one was a very late walker (17 months). They are 21 months now. However, my late walker is talking in 3 word phrases...keep in mind that developmentally there is a lot going on and developmental areas may 'take turns'. Trust your pediatrician and be sure to ask them questions. If there is a developmental concern they can get you hooked up with your local early intervention service provider!

  • Echo pp. Normal. I still do it and then I also compare them to their big brother. Plus they were a bit early (34w), so I was comparing and adjusting and comparing again.

I do have to get better about it bc I have a bad habit of saying "he's the more vocal one" or "he's the bruiser" when they both are hitting milestones when they should.

  • @AshB62‌ so this am after reading your reply A rolled over. It was totally by accident, and she freaked out, but it made me feel better!

Thanks to all for making me feel better!
