nexplanon users come in

Hey ladies!

A few weeks ago my mirena iud fell out :( and my OB thinks it's because of a septum in my ute so she doesn't want to place another.

I'm thinking about going with an implant like nexplanon or implanon but have no experience. Anyone have any feedback good or bad?

TIA!

Re: nexplanon users come in

  • Mostly side effects are my concerns I really hate bc and had good luck either the mirena after DD1 and had minimal side effects.

I don't have first hand experience, but a close friend has Implanon. She loves it. I think it lasts 5 years. Her periods were lighter for a few months and then went away completely. The only side effect she had was small weight gain. She's had to have it changed after 5 years and removal was ok, she complained of pain in her arm for a couple days, but nothing major.
    ETA: it's 3 years
  • I'm getting mind in two weeks. Thanks for asking this question. :)
  • I'm on my third implanon, I had two before DD and I'm on the first after having her. I don't get periods so I don't get he horrible cramps I used to have with them. This time around I've had some trouble with random spotting for a couple of months, which I hadn't had before. It's stopped now. My doc says the spotting is pretty common though and the main reason some women don't like implanon. It also doesn't help much with acne if you have it, like some other BC pills do.
  • @billybumbler‌ did you have any weight gain issues while on it? I've been working my ass off (literally) and have lost almost 70 lbs with another 40 to go for my goal weight and that is one complaint I've heard.

  • I've had it about a year now and love it. No side effects that I've noticed, and no period sine I got it in. It hurt for about a day after insertion but wasn't a big deal.
  • @mireland23 not really, I have gained weight but I can't blame it on the implanon - just eating too much and not enough exercise.
