Eating out

I was running errands with LO this morning and stopped at Jason's Deli for lunch, thinking they would have a lot of healthy options for LO. Maybe I should have ordered something but I was very disappointed with their salad bar.

So where do you stop for quick food while you're out and about and what do you like to order? Bonus points if the restaurant has WCM!

Re: Eating out

  • I don't know if they have it where you are, but Rubio's is an easy place to bring little ones. I order black beans & rice for him usually, & maybe a side of guacamole. He loves all of it.
  • Mexican food, real Mexican food though not del taco or Taco Bell. LO loves beans and rice. We had subway last night and LO liked the meatballs from DH's sandwich and usually does well with veggies like tomatoes. Or when in an area with no "healthy" quick options most fast food places so decent salads Ill eat and I can give LO chicken, tomatoes, corn, eggs, whatever else depending on what type of salad

Most of the places we go to are not chains, so I can't really recommend anything specific.  I tend to order stuff for myself that I can share with LO.  He gets cucumbers and tomatoes out of my salads, grilled meats out of my sandwiches, pieces of bread, chunks of squash out my squash casserole from a local BBQ place, side order of fruit salad, beans etc.  I get him a side of steamed or roasted veggies at any place that serves them with their meat dishes.  They've never refused to make those for him even if it's not a separate side you can order off the menu.  I carry a pouch and some puffs and Gerber owl crackers in my bag for when there are no good options at all.

  • I have just gotten into the habit of carrying snacks everywhere I go. Car snacks, purse snacks, lots and lots of snacks.

Cereal bars are great for their portability. Costco sells these great fig bars that are all natural/non-GMO. They're still a bit small, but fruit leather and gummies (the Annie's all natural kind) are also big hit. Once they can feed themselves pouches, also key. Bananas, oranges, other "durable" fruit, too.

I'll order stuff for them, too but I'm a bit anal about their food so I tend to just bring my own.

We love to eat at Panera! Good food and always something for LO. If we go to a place that doesn't have baby-friendly foods, I usually have a fruit cup in my diaper bag as well as puffs, mum-mums, and/or Cheerios. I'm a walking vending machine for baby snacks.

I need to start doing this!!!

  • I usually pack something for LO, so I can wait where ever I want. But I try and pick places I know have fruit or kids meals. Village inn, Applebee's, chipotle, Carlos o kellys
