Just looking to vent! We have a large stand up freezer in our garage, this morning I went to get a roast for the crockpot to find the entire thing had de-frosted! Most things were at refrigerator temps but now I have to try and cook all of the meat today so I don't have to pitch it! I also had over 120 oz of breast milk in there that thankfully still had ice crystals in it so I could re-freeze it. If you're a meat lover, come on over to my house today...I've got a pork roast and beef roast in the crockpot, 3 London broils on the grill, beef tips on the stove with tomatoes and green beans, two extra large meatloafs heading for the oven and about 4 pounds worth if boneless ribs lined up for dinner @-) Thanks for being my sounding board ladies...I'm heading back to the kitchen!
That sucks! Luckily your breast milk was still salvageable.

@rlajambe we think something on one of the door compartments fell forward and pushed the door slightly ajar. We'll know for sure though after it's plugged back in and cooled down again!
I cooked meat for 10 hours yesterday, it was a long haul but now that I've got dinner in the freezer for the next month I'm ok with it!
I seriously could have tossed the meat and not shed a year, but when I wasn't sure if the breast milk was salvageable I thought I might loose my sh*t! Thankfully it was towards the bottom of the freezer which was still mostly frozen.
Glad to see you were able to salvage the perishable stuff. Sorry to hear about that. I just saw that you had 120 oz of stored breast milk, and thought to myself, wow, bravo!

Yea, I've got about a month worth of frozen milk. I had a crazy over supply when L was little. When I went back to work I was pumping 8 oz more than he needed while I was gone each day, so my stash got pretty big!

All Alers Welcome!
Glad you saved the meat and breast milk.
So is this a "Some idiot unplugged the freezer" problem or a "We'd better replace that freezer soon, before we end up with rancid stuff" problem?
