SA results in, good news, but question about morph.

Hi ladies,

I called my RE's office today to check on my husband's SA results (he did it on Monday). They said everything looks normal: 47 mil/ml, motility 65%, and morphology 5%... but I did some googling and saw that a lot of places want morphology to be at least 15 %, so I'm wondering why the lab said it was normal. We are meeting with the doctor on Tuesday, but I was wondering if any of you have feedback on this!

4 % and above is considered normal. I would not be worried about 5 % morph if  everything else looks good.

PPs gave great info. Even with morph on the low side, our RE said it is not considered necessarily a barrier to pregnancy, unless nothing else can explain IF.

We're still early in the process, but I'll confirm that neither our RE nor our urologist was that concerned about our 0% strict morphology. They both thought that the count and the motility were key--or, in our case, their main concerns. That said, even with our SA numbers, we're planning to try a medicated IUI cycle next month.

Thanks guys, I feel better! Can't wait to sit down with the doctor on tuesday so we can hear his take on all the testing and get a game plan going. Thanks again for the comments and info.
