Trying to Get Pregnant

Intro and Clearblue digital question

Hi all,
I am a regular at the infertility board. Last year we were not even TTC but my hormone tests came back bad (I am premenopause) and we found ourselves in the IVF world very quickly. First IVF did not work and we are gearing up for the second one. However, we are also TTC naturally these days. I hope you do not mind me asking a question about the ovulation kits.
I am using Clearblue digital (the purple one) to track my ovulation. Last month it worked perfectly. I had three days of blinking smiley face and the fourth day (day 12 of my cycle) I had the permanent smiley face. My cycles are around 25 days long so it made sense (but as you can guess, it did not work).
This month, I had the permanent smiley face on day 10 without any blinking days beforehand. It was bit early and also no blinking face threw me off. So, I kept testing. Yesterday was 15th day of my cycle and I got the blinking smiley face again, and today it was there as well.
Does anyone experience anything like this? Can someone have multiple LH surges during one cycle?
Thanks!

Re: Intro and Clearblue digital question

  • From what I've heard, you can have multiple LH surges and to go by the last one. That's just what I've read though. Best wishes for your second round of IVF!

  • Yes, you can have multiple LH surges. An LH surge can, but doesn't alawys, lead to ovulation. An OPK detects the LH surge, not ovulation. That's why temping to confirm is encouraged so much around here.

Yes you can have more than one surge. I used the regulat blue cbe opk's this past month. Tested with fmu and the darn thing never gave me a smiley face. But I did indeed ovulate based on my temps.

    My Ovulation Chart
  • EllyD covered it - I have definitely seen multiple LH surges in the past with + or near + OPK in one cycle, and finally did ovulate after the second surge.  Good luck with everything & welcome!
