1st Trimester

Is this what I think (hope) it is?!?!? Advice needed for a 1st timer...

My man and I gave 'er our first 'practice makes perfect' try last week. (5th-11th)

My menses is due the 23rd.

I'm a 31yo triathlete and stay chiro adjusted so my body has been predictable clockwork for years. But I've been a cramped, bloated, nauseated, irritable, and now constipated mess in between headaches all week. Chiro said my muscles feel mushy, which usually indicates something hormonal or that they're absorbing more water.

Could this be what I think (hope) it is?!?!? Or is it in my head?

And what advice do you have for both the symptoms and stress of waiting til Wednesday to pee on that dang stick??

    TOTALLY PREGNANT!

That's what you wanted to hear, no?
  • You're going to have to wait and pee on the dang stick.

I've had symptoms where I thought I was pregnant and it turned into my period. I've had symptoms where I thought my period was coming and I found out I was pregnant.

  • @WhoCanItBeNow‌ Ahhh no, but my chiro has been my PCP for years and can tell when something is out if the norm.
  • Okay.... @WhoCanItBeNow‌
If you knew the endo, surgical, and lupron induced menopausal route that my old MD put me through and the fact that chiros have gotten me off all drugs and to my healthiest body ever, maybe you wouldn't be so damn judgmental. Judgy mainstreamers that will tell me to take a test are welcome to stay home.

The question was about dealing with the symptoms and stress for the next week until I take the test. Totally welcome those comments.
  • Go see a doctor? Take colace for the constipation? Tylenol for the headaches?

I'm not sure what other information can be given here.

No. She's my preventive care, cough cold flu doc.

My OB is back in the States, so have to find a new one here now. (I live in Singapore as of recent) So will also take her recommendation for who to see as there are only 2 docs in the country that will even consider non-Csection. But no, don't have one here yet.

I also travel for work and next week is my last week here for almost a month and figured it was too early to go in for a test? No? Yes? IDK.
  • @Tapsalteerie‌ I posted here as I was assuming the PG crowd might be more versed in this part than the TTC one.

Everything I'd understood until today said that it does no good to take a test before you're late. After reading more from the Mar15 group, I should maybe go ahead and take one now? Even if I'm not late yet? but really abnormally miserable?

Or do other people cry in the office bathroom for no explainable other than it's Thursday.

Look, I'm living in a newly foreign country, TTC for the first time, and have no other women here to bend an ear....
  • @jehtor, if you're having symptoms, then you should be able to turn a test. Take one now. If it's negative, just do what you can to take your mind off of it until you miss your period, then take another test. That's really all you can do. If they're both negative, then it's probably just a stomach bug. Good luck.

  • I didn't have pregnancy symptoms when I turned a test positive. The only way I knew to test was because fertility friend said my luteal phase had been longer than usual and to take one. I wasnt temping that month and just used ovulation predictor sticks.

What I'm getting at is 1) if your pregnant enough for symptoms your pregnant enough for a positive test - I suggest first response early response for the most accurate test, don't test with blue dye (such as clear blue) as they are known for false positives and evaporation lines 2) if the test is negative it means you are not pregnant at this time - test again in a week 3) pregnancy symptoms and pms are often the same when you are trying to conceive you become hyper aware of your body so what you didn't realize before you suddenly notice now. 4) bodies change, cycles change, you are not a machine and your normal won't always be. You may have a "clockwork" cycle then one month have a "long" cycle the month after have a "short" cycle.

  • First - my apologies that I didn't see the whole how to guide at first! Wrong place for this Q.

Second @dragonmom35‌ .... Holy batman on the acronym list! Had NO idea.....

Third (and let's see if I can do this right) - took a blue dye non-early HPT as that's all they had at Watson's, 5 days pre-AF, and got a BFN. Time to hurry up with the rest of my TWW and get the pink dye HPT instead if I can find one.

Will hopefully have a better, and more appropriately used, BFP someday soon........

    Thanks ladies!
  • *puts on uterus goggles* OMG you are totes pregnant and your chiro knows all!!!11!

I can't tell you if your pregnant or not, and neither can anyone else here. The only way to know is test. Also, you can't dictate how people respond to your posts. If you don't want certain responses, don't post on a public forum.

  • I wasn't aware that the obvious "take an HPT" was mainstream. I am not opposed to alternative medicine, but taking a home pg test is not "mainstream" -- it's damn common sense. Sweet Jesus. :|

The mainstream comment is for those that gawk at chiropractic care, not taking a HPT.
  • @livvyx‌ - any recommendation for finding one here?
