Re: Breastfeeding check in

  • How's breastfeeding going this week? Great.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? 8weeks, 2-3 hours during the day, one 4 hour stretch at night then every 2 hours.

    EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF

What is your go to BFing position? During the day, in the armchair with my feet up on the ottoman and baby in cradle or cross cradle position. At night side lying in bed. She sleeps in a cosleeper.

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? It's all good, just starting to get very tired from the lack of sleep with feedings at 1am, 3am, 5am, 7am.

    Raves and rants? Sleep!

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO? All over town, although with 2U2 I'm always at kid friendly places in the first place.

How's breastfeeding going this week? Great, now that I finally replaced my broken pump with a new one. ;)

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? 8 weeks, 2-3 hours daytime, 4-5 hours at night.

EBF, EP, supplementing? Pumping, BF and supplementing 2x daily MTNF and once while mommy is at work.

What is your go to BFing position? Side, or cradle hold

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? Went back to work. I pump before going and LO gets one formula bottle and one bottle of fresh pumped milk since I don't have a frozen stash yet.

Raves and rants? Engorgement... it hurts. Finally glad to be free of clogged ducts though thanks to pumping in between feedings. Still not making enough to store any, but working on it.

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO? Just at grandparent's house...

Anything else you want to share? Damn allergies has both my kids all stuffy this week. :( Also, LO reached up yesterday when I was holding him and unsnapped my nursing tank. Guess that was a hint to bring on the boob!!

  • How's breastfeeding going this week?
Things are great, I have no complaints.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings?
He's 8 weeks, usually does 2-3 hours during the day and anywhere from 4-7 hour long stretch then 2-3 hour stretches after that.

    EBF, EP, supplementing?
EBF when I'm with him, went back to work at 6 weeks so I pump too

What is your go to BFing position?
Cradle hold on my boppy in my glider

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find?
    Nothing comes to mind

    Raves and rants?
It's 2am and usually he passes out pretty fast after feeding but he is wide awake tonight!

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO?
If we do go out in public I bring a bottle then pump in the car on the way home.. I feel more comfortable doing that

Anything else you want to share?
Sorry to the moms having nipple pain... I remember how awful it was, hang in there :(

  • How's breastfeeding going this week?
BF is going great this week.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? DD will be 2 months on Saturday. Mornings are every 3 hours and afternoons and evenings it's usually 2 hours. We get one solid 4-6 hour stretch at night, MOTN feed, then another 3-4 hour stretch.

    EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF

What is your go to BFing position? Cradle. I'm boring.

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?
Last week I noticed that my supply when pumping wasn't as much as it had been in the past. I started eating oatmeal every morning, drinking more water, and having a beer at night. My supply seems to be back up.

Raves and rants? Rave: After today, I will have a frozen stash of 100 oz! Rant: DD refuses to nap. It's like she thinks she's going to miss something.

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO? Yes. Out at lunch, at a friends house, vineyard, etc.

Anything else you want to share? I just wanted to tell you ladies who are having so many issues that I admire your tenacity and dedication. I hope it gets easier sooner for you.

    How's it going? Great

How old? How long between feedings? 8 weeks on Tuesday. 2-3 hours. I'm with you @MK1013‌, we will never sleep again. He wakes every 2-3 hours at night (probably not even to eat).

Ebf and pumping for work which is upcoming

    Position? Reclined and cradle

Challenges? LO is really iffy on bottles. Sometimes he does well other times he screams bloody murder.

Rants and raves? Rant - kiddo is colicky. This sh** is hard! Raves - got Gerber soothe drops and praying they do something. Hoping he will take bottles at daycare on Monday and not starve himself. (Feeling a little guilty for bringing the kids to daycare Monday and Tuesday when I don't have to work so I can buy new work clothes that fit, go to lunch with hubby on his birthday, get a haircut, and get fitted for my diaphragm at the OB. But also really excited! )

Nip? We don't get out much with the screamer and toddler, but I have.

Anything else? I hope everyone's nipple pain ceases quickly! !

    How's breastfeeding going this week?

Okay.  DS is getting really fussy when BFing.  He's kicking and punching and is also really lazy with staying latched.  I basically have to hold him in place.  I thought he was gassy so I keep burping him but it doesn't make a difference.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings?

LO is 9 weeks.  We go about 3-4 hours during the day and 4 at night. DH usually feeds LO in the middle of the night though so I'm not BFing.

    EBF, EP, supplementing?

All of the above.  I never produced enough to EBF and DS wasn't gaining weight so we supplemented from the beginning.  Now he eats so much that I can't keep up!  I'm going back to work next week so my plan is to BF before I leave in the morning and at night, pump at lunch and DS will get formula and pumped BM the rest of the time.

What is your go to BFing position?

DS usually lays on his side on the breastfriend and I sit on the couch.  DH hate this because DS ends up spitting up on the couch a lot!

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?

DS's fussiness while nursing.  Sometimes he's calm, sometimes he's kicking and flailing and then comes off and cries.  I tried burping. It doesn't really help so I just try to hold him in place and he eventually calms down.  He's spending less and less time nursing.  I'm not sure if he's getting more efficient or just frustrated even though I know he's getting BM.  I think he's spoiled by the flow of the bottle so sometimes the boob isn't fast enough for him!

    Raves and rants?
I'm worried about pumping at work. There's no good place to do it at work so I'll probably have to do it in my car.  I only get a 1/2 hour for lunch so this will be my lunch break.

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO? Only at grandma's.

How's breastfeeding going this week? Great. No complaints except that she is starting to play more and latch and re latch

How old is LO ? How long between feedings: she is good! Putting on weight like she should be. Is in the 75%. I don't time our feedings. If she is fussy I try to feed her and let her eat for however long. I think in total she Nurses for 2-3 hours

EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF but I'm trying to start pumping again so my mom can feed her when she baby sits

What is your go to BFing position? Either a regular cradle hold or laying laying down do motn feedings

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? I notice she eats better if I give her a little more support. I've been getting lazy with my hold bit she seems to find a way around it

Raves and rants? I breastfed in public a lot this week! And we went to our first mommy and me class. So so fun!

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO? Yes! With a cover. So far, Barnes and noble. Two different malls and her gymboree class (afterwards)

Anything else you want to share? Keep up the good work ladies!

    It's a BOY

  • How's breastfeeding going this week? Going pretty good.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? He is a little over 2 months old.  He doesn't have a set time in between feedings, but will at least give me longer stretches at night.

EBF, EP, supplementing?  EBF at home and pumping at work.

What is your go to BFing position? Cradle

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?  No issues this week

Raves and rants? I am just glad that BF is working out for me because I was really worried that I would have problems.  I do hate pumping though.

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO?  I did in the car a couple of times.  I am still not very good at nursing without the boppy though.

  • How's breastfeeding going this week?
Pretty good. He's slowed down since his 6 week spurt and we have a routine established.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings?
10 weeks! He is now between 2-3 hours during the day and night. In the AM he clusters to gear up for his day and he will eat twice before going to bed.

    EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF
EBF. I am pumping to create a small stash.

What is your go to BFing position?
Cross cradle. I like laying down, but I worry about how to burp him if we fall asleep.
What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?

    Raves and rants?
Some pain still. Its there, no worse. Sometimes better. But he is on a routine and I've seen such a happier child!

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO?
I did in the grocery store with him in my Ergo, when he was one he burped really loud!

Anything else you want to share?

  • How's breastfeeding going this week?
It's been great. I added a 5th pump and I'm getting enough that I don't need to supplement anymore!

How old is LO ? How long between feedings?
Henry is 8 weeks old, typically goes between 1-3 hours between feedings during the day with 1-2 5/6 hour stretches at night.

    EBF, EP, supplementing?
I can now say I am EP!*

*I noticed the almost full formula container stated it needed to be used within a month of opening so now I'm doing 1-2 formula bottles a day so as not to waste $25. I'm using this opportunity to freeze the extra breastmilk.

What is your go to BFing position?
I'm a bottle feeder, I love to sit cross legged with Henry in the middle.

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?
This week has been really good, maybe the best yet. No challenges to report.

    Raves and rants?
Rave: I'm pumping so much milk, yay!
Rant: I really don't know how I will keep this up when I go back to work. I was thinking of dropping to only 2 sessions per day (morning & evening) but now that it's finally going well, that is a painful thought! I might just have to talk to my boss about pumping @ work. We're tiny so none of the rules about nursing apply to us. It is totally at his discretion.

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO?
Nope, only nursed in public once during his first week.
