@HeartLikeMine3‌ I know you said you liked it, but I'm feeling kind if meh...I knew Amma did it very early on and didn't understand why she had sex with two guys in rapid fire. Also, what cop lets someone put themselves in grave danger like that?

When I read GG I thought about it for days after, this one I was more like "why didn't Richard call her?" "Does Alan own the pig farm now?"

Maybe if I read it slower it would settle in me more

Lol! I never did figure Alan out. Did he know what was happening or was he just that clueless about life..

I think he was a kept man who came from privilege. They spent a lot of time alone in the room together, he might have been sedated as well

I'm really bad about knowing what's coming next in movies and in books( I might be the dumb blonde). I haven't read a book in years and was really surprised when I found out it was Amma. I thought she was just real fucked up because of her mom. I am in the middle of gone girl now and it's getting REALLY good I can't put it down.

Gone girl doesn't beat you over the head with the mystery like sharp objects does. That was my issue, Amma talking about how she loved to hurt people for fun and such...we get it

ok @kdc2007 I very much value your opinion so I took the night to think about the book.

I think it's really interesting that the men in this book were so ineffective. Alan, Camille's dad, Richard, the police chief, even her editor...none of them really had an impact on the crazy women in the story. I think it's an easy plot device to blame crazy women on the men in their lives because there is that existing social dynamic. But to have the story be about women hurting women (no matter how "predictable" the ending) is truly disturbing. There isn't a women in this story that isn't guilty (except the editor's wife maybe). Guilty of being a mean girl or a tag-along or a killer. Gillian Flynn does an exceptional job of exposing the psychology of relationships through a captivating story. That's why I loved Gone Girl, I totally "got" the couple's relationship. I think this story took me a while to "get" because I was reading it for the story not for the point.

I think I might need to join the June 13 book club
