Pregnant after IF

Thanks for making me feel lazy... the things people say

So today I told a friend of mine the news that i'm pregnant.  It started cause he asked if I had been running or cycling lately - i figured it was time to spill so i said "no I've been way to sick and tired... apparently growing a baby is hard work"

He said "Congratulations" and then went on to say that many woman continue to exercise through the entire pregnancy... and now I feel lazy.  I even felt the need to defend myself saying I walk 5k a day even tho i'm sleeping 10 - 13 hours a day.  (I didn't even get into the fact that even on diclection I feel like tossing my cookies on a daily basis)

Now I feel lazy - I know i shouldn't beat myself up - i'm listening to my body and eating right and being as active as i can, but the comment upset me and now I'm mad.  I'm sure the hormones aren't helping with the emotions - but I just needed to vent a bit.  Some people!

I have been proud of myself for continuing to work out - and my workout is now walking 2.5-3 miles on the treadmill (down from 4-4.5 pre-preg). You're doing more than that! People are lame. Also, every pregnant woman is different. You are doing just fine. :)

    First-ever BFP after IUI #4 (Follistim) - Baby Girl born (36w2d) 8/8/2014!

  • I was just having a pity party about this the other day. A girl I know mentioned how she managed to keep running late into her pregnancy and it made me feel like a total bum. Then I thought back to how crappy I felt during stims and after retrieval with ovaries that felt like softballs, and how lucky we are to have these boys on the way. I keep reminding myself that I will be able to do plenty of workouts in the next couple of years to get back to where I want to be, and if anyone tells me what I "should" be doing, they are going to to get a throat punch in retaliation!

  • You are doing an amazing job!  I can't walk far at all I am so exhausted!  We are pregnant, it is a lot of hard work to grow that baby.  And as PP said fertile people just don't understand what it took for us to get here.  There is no way any of us are pushing too hard and taking a chance at hurting our little ones.

Rock on with your 5K walking self!  I'd like to see any man do that while pregnant!

Me: 33 - PCOS & Hypothyroidism DH: 35 - SA is good Married since 2010 (together since 2006) TTC since June 2009 (we knew we would have issues and wanted family right away after we got married). No pregnancies yet. May 2013 - started first round of Chlomid & ovidrel cycle.
  • You are doing an excellent job walking a 5 K daily!!! People say the craziest things to pregnant ladies & of course everyone thinks they are an expert without knowing the details. Every women is different, every pregnancy is different. Keep doing what you feel comfortable with and ignore those comments (I know easier said than done).

    EDD: 11/12/2014 ~ Boys x2

  • You are doing a great job.

In all honesty, people will question what you are doing no matter what. I zumba 4-5 days a week and people usually question me about whether working out like I do is good for the baby and tell me I should take it easy. If you workout they criticize, if you don't they criticize. I say they can all go jump off a bridge.

You are doing what is best for you and your LO, so rock on and try not to let it bother you. (I know, easier said than done.)

  • Hahahah. I want to punch your friend in the face. Honestly, I know some women can continue to exercise and more power to them... I am not one of them. I used to be an avid runner and all the time MS started shortly after BFP. Not to mention all the exhaustion where I couldn't basically function. So yeah, working out was not even on the agenda.
