At our 20 week scan, it was found that I have 2 uterine fibroids and a large ovarian cyst measuring over 10 cm. My doctor scheduled me an appointment with a gynecology specialist that I had today.
The specialist said that my cyst was actually measuring 10 x 11 x 14 and she was concerned enough about it that she thinks we should remove it. Soon. I guess it's large enough that she's worried it will twist on my ovary, cut off its blood supply and kill it, causing potential problems with my pregnancy. So, I go for another ultrasound next week for confirmation and she expects to have me booked for surgery the first week of August.
And, just cause that wasn't enough good news, she also said that one of my fibroids was in an inconvenient spot in my uterus, down low by my cervix and there is a good chance I will deliver by c section, assuming pregnancy hormones make them grow (as they normally do) because it will block the baby's way out.
And the icing on the cake? The doc was the parent of one of my students. So, next parent teacher conference day, we'll both have the memory if her all up in my vag.
All jokes aside, I'm freaking out. General anesthesia freaks me out on a good day? But pregnant? I'm really scared.
Re: Not the news I was hoping for
The baby is doing great and they have no concerns about him/her other than what my complications may bring up.
It's been a stressful month. My grandmother had to be put in a special care home three weeks ago, per doctors orders, so we've been trying to empty and clean her apartment, my uncle passed away last week, my sister is getting married in two weeks and now this.
I'm just about completely tapped out.
