Question about AMH

Hi Ladies,

I may know some of you still...as you can see from my siggy I'm an IF veteran of this board.  I have an AMH/general question.  My history is below so I'll just give you the recent history...

I stopped BF'ing #2 five months ago.  I returned to my RE in May b/c I'm 34 now and although we aren't sure about trying for #3 (I REALLY want another one, DH is on the fence), I wanted to see what my fertility situation was to see how much time we might have.  RE said my AFC looked good and my AMH came back at 7.8 ng/mL (I know this indicates possible PCOS but I have never been Dx w/ it b/c I have zero other symptoms other than a lot of follicles/cysts).  RE said all looked good and take a little time.

However, my cycles have been really short (25 days, 21 days) which is NOT the norm for me and makes me wonder if my FSH is high and I could actually be DOR masked by PCO.  Is it possible to have PCO and DOR at the same time?  Also, my AMH back in Oct 2012 was 2.1 ng/mL - I'm baffled how there could be such a drastic variation (2.1 ng/mL in Oct 2012 and 7.8 ng/mL in May 2014).  I was pregnant but didn't know it at the time the AMH was taken in 2012 however the RE's nurse says that shouldn't affect the levels.  Does anyone know anything on that subject?

I would call and ask my RE these questions however I'm not currently in treatment so I don't want to bother him.

Thanks!

    Good to see you back!

I'm far from an expert on AMH as when I was first going through treatments that wasn't even tested (yes, I'm THAT old, ha!)  But even a level of 2.1 seems really good as I know quite a few ladies with almost non-existent AMH and they still achieved pregnancies, and mostly unassisted ones at that.

Can you just call and ask to have day three blood work done your next cycle?  That would at least give you and idea of where your FSH is at.  Also, maybe try some fertility supplements to see if that would help lengthen your cycle (I have taken FertilAid in the past with some possible success).  That, or do you think your RE would be okay with prescribing some progesterone to use during the 2ww if you guys decide to try on your own?

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
