It has on only been a little over a month since my daughter was born sleeping. I am just curious how soon have others conceived after a stillbirth and was the pregnancy successful?
Since I had a csection my dr recommended that I wait six to nine months before starting ttc. Dh and I decided to give ourselves a year to grieve and heal before we seriously consider ttc.
Ticker warning, rainbow mentioned
Our daughter was stillborn in March 2013, we received the go ahead after 6 weeks and began trying about 2 weeks later. We conceived our rainbow in July of 2013 and she was born this past March. It was a success....I wish you luck and peace, pgal is very hard, but worth it.

I am so sorry for your loss. This is a tough decision, and definitely something to talk with your doctor about as well. In our case, since we had a second c section when our second son was stillborn, our doctor encouraged us to wait a year before trying for physical and emotional reasons. We are planning to start trying in either august or September. All the best.
Me: 32 DH: 33 High School Sweethearts Married 5/28/2005
DS1 born 6/5/10 at 40 weeks via emergency c-section due to fetal distress and IUGR caused by placental insufficiency
DS2 born still 8/28/13 at 32 weeks via emergency c-section due to a complete placental abruption - cause unknown
Baby #3 on the way, EDD 2/29/16. Originally twins, but we said goodbye to Baby B at 8 weeks.
We were told to wait 6 months after our loss in May, so it will probably be November before we start trying agian. To be honest I am already having anxiety about it. I keep switching between feeling the need to be pregnant agian right away, and then being so overcome by fear of this happening again that I want to put it off longer. It's a really tough decision.
I also had a c-section and was told at a minimum 6 months, but that waiting 9 months was better. That was in March and I think we plan to start trying again in November-December. It's a tough decision to make, but I think you will know in your heart when the time is right.
Thanks for starting this thread! I was wondering the same thing. I had my loss on June 4. I was told everything was fine to try after 5 weeks, but they recommended longer for emotional healing (we plan to wait a bit longer too). They also recommended continuing to use prenatal vitamins and some other supplements to make up for the nutrients my body lost during my pregnancy.
We started trying again as soon as I had my first period, which was 3 months after the stillbirth, and we got a positive on the second month trying. This pregnancy has been successful, but it has NOT been uneventful. There has been a lot of stress for us because of pgal issues. It's scary, but we're hoping she'll be here soon!
first son stillborn 7/20/13 at 39 weeks due to Acute Fatty Liver of Pregnancy It's a girl! Baby Anna was born August 3, 2014!
We were cleared after our PP visit. We did not prevent after that, but were not charting or anything. We conceived 6m after delivering our daughter. The rainbow pregnancy was very hard physically and emotionally. But our Lo is here safe and sound.
"Elsie Irene was born sleeping at 35w 6d on December 8, 2012. Mommy and Daddy miss you sweet girl."
Yes. I haven't stopped taking my prenatal vitamins.I actually began taking a flinstone vitamin along with it,I have also heard that Geritol is a good supplement and it is also said to boost fertility.
We lost our daughter in March 2013. My OB told us he recommended waiting at least 6 months for emotional healing, but physically we could start trying after 3 months. We chose to not wait 6 months and to start trying as soon as we were cleared. We conceived our rainbow at the end of June 2013 and he was born this past March. He is just about 5 months old now.
It will depend on a lot of things and is definitely something to talk to your dr about. Pgal is super hard, but worth it.
Married 11/23/11, TTC starting 10/12, BFP#1 11/30/12, Adoption of stepson finalized 03/19/13,Loss of our daughter at 20w4d due to incompetent cervix 03/27/13, BFP#2 06/28/13, DS2 born 3/1/14.
My loss was caused by a fall, so my OB was confident my next pregnancy would be a success and cleared me for TTC after my first PP period (which came four weeks after my loss). I had to wait three months, though, because of a booster shot I'd gotten while in the hospital. I waited the three months, H and I tried the fourth month after, and we missed my window. I was devastated by the BFN and knew I needed more time to heal, so I benched us for five more months. We got pregnant that first month trying again and had our rainbow in January.
The pregnancy had some issues, but I was closely monitored, and Mia arrived healthy 2.5 weeks early. It was hard on me emotionally, and while I do want more children, I don't know if I could do it again. It is a tough decision to decide when to TTC again, but ultimately, it is your choice to make - and you'll know when you're ready. This board, and the PgAL board, helped me get through my last pregnancy...and we'll be here for you if you do decide the time is right. *hugs*
