Baby Names

Help us find a compromise?

DH and I have very different naming styles. Our ideas seem very different and we both dislike nearly every name on the other person's list. Can I get some insight on our lists to maybe find a compromise?

Emily
Julie
Kathy
Laura
Neely
Virginia
Corina
Lua

Eliza
Fiona
Nora
Ruby
Matilda
Coraline
Eloise

Middle name is set on Dawn, last name is like Hoffman. Thanks!

Also, on your lists- Virginia, Nora and Eliza seem to intersect the two styles the best.

    What about Elizabeth nn Eliza?
  • Coraline and Corina are pretty close, maybe Cora Dawn?

    Amelia Dawn
    Emma Dawn
    Luna Dawn

I like pp suggestion of Louise nn Lua.

Lua is Portuguese for moon, I assume that's where it came from? I think it is lovely if it means something to you.

    Katerina
    Evangeline
    Lucille

  • Thank you guys! I suggested Juliet last night, and we both agree we don't hate it but don't love it. That's progress. I'm going to gather all of these suggestions and show them to DH. I didn't know Lua was Portuguese, funny because he turned down Penelope calling it a "hispanic" name. Don't know where he pulled that one from...the first list is his, the second one is mine.

  • The second list is almost exactly the same as mine/DH's with Fiona, Ruby, and Nora being in our top 5. I'd like to echo @jburdet1 with the suggestion of Caroline which is also in my top 5 and seems like a good compromise between the two lists. We like the nickname Rory for Caroline.

I think I like Eliza From your list the best...Eliza Dawn Hoffman sounds great!! I also like Fiona and Nora!!! I'm also a little biased to Laura Dawn, Laura being my name and Dawn being my mothers :)
