Wait....anal swab?! I don't remember this at all from being pregnant with DD.
LOL I vaguely remember. They really just swab the whole area down there and do a quick brush of your butthole while they are at it. Nothing really memorable/painful about it!
My OB specifically said it was a VAGINAL exam. She mentioned nothing of anal swabbing. That is such a No Zone for me. Makes me uncomfortable just thinking about it.

Dude, it's NO zone for me too! But I guess this is necessary and all.
Just wait, if you are lucky enough to get horrible hemorrhoids and be torn from end to end after the birth, you'll have lots of people poking and prodding both your vag and your butt! It was no fun having multiple young nurses looking at my a-hole every few hours to check on my condition!
Hahaha I'm loving all this. Modesty in a hospital? What's that?! I remember needing to go to the bathroom after birth and the RN wanted to come with me..I was like so, um....can I have some privacy?
I lost all sense of modesty in labor...I remember with DS, when I was in transition, they kept trying to put a sheet over my legs and I kept kicking it off...I was hot and I didn't care. I probably wouldn't of cared if I was completely naked at that point.

This. But I did end up being completely naked. I laboured for a bit in the bathtub and when it was 'go time' I didnt even think about putting the hospital gown back on.
I had a cervical check last time since I had some cramping. It was uncomfortable and it hurt a little bit but I wasn't in tears or anything like that. I did cramp for the rest of the day afterward.
For me the GBS swab was no big deal at all. I honestly wouldn't have known it happened in my bum if it wasn't for thebump. Internals on the other hand were very uncomfortable and felt like they were trying to reach up to my throat. It's not something I'm looking forward to this time but I'm not dreading it, it's over pretty fast. And also usually paps don't bother me. I think everyone is different and going to be more sensitive than others to different procedures.

The RN didn't just come with me she had to look in the toliet to see what was in there after I was done. But really by that point you have no cares about all of it. I think I was actually glad she was there to show me the ice pack pad and such.
