Breast milk to food ratio

Hi ladies! My DS just turned 11 months old last week. He has never taken a bottle and up until a couple weeks ago he was a very heavy nurser. Lately it seems like he wants more food and is hungry for more. I still nurse him at least 5x a day but definitely not as long or as much as I was. Is this just nature taking over? Is he naturally weaning himself? I plan to nurse him at least until 12 months (that's not my worry) I mostly want to make sure I'm not feeding him too much food bc I know breastmilk is more important but at the same time he's asking for more and I don't want him hungry. Since no one knows how much milk a nursing baby is taking in, I'm curious how much food your LO's are eating?

Note: He self feeds. He eats solids and anything and everything we give him.

Sorry it's so long and TIA.

  • Thanks ladies. This is very reassuring. I have been following his lead bc my gut feeling was he's hungry and telling me to feed him. I will continue to let him guide me. I appreciate it.
