Moving to crib...

The last few nights DS has been scooting himself to the end of this bassinet and his feet end up sticking up the side. He is 8 weeks I am thinking that it might be time to move him to his crib. I am surprised at how hesitant I am to do this. I have never been an overly emotional person, but I am having a hard time making the final decision to put him in his own room. I am nervous that I will sleep through him waking up and wanting to feed overnight. DH keeps telling me to relax and that I will hear it. I guess maybe I just need to suck it up and give it a try. Not really sure what the point of this post is, but working on telling myself it is the best idea...

I was afraid I wouldn't hear her- but trust me you do. I think it's the mommy in us bc my husband doesn't hear shit.

@manna1212‌ - DD does the same thing. She ends up horizontal (and stuck) in the cosleeper. May be trying the crib soon....

I just moved LO to her own room and felt the same as you. A little emotional, nervous, hesitant. Honestly it's been really nice. I love that DH and I have our own space back and don't have to whisper after LO goes to sleep.

It's hard the first night but you'll probably find that it's better for everyone. My LO gets a much better sleep in her crib and she now sleeps 12 hours through the night. I was emotional the first night (never thought I would be), but every night gets easier. And I agree with the PPs, you'll hear him

We did about a week ago but only bc DH put her down in crib and she fell asleep. So we left her there for the night and since she has been sleeping longer stretches (with the exception of last night... Think we are going thru the 8 week leap). You will not only wake to the sounds, you'll wake to no sounds and cheek on LO anyways I'm happy we made the switch. Good luck!!

Hi, I've been lurking around a bit but this is my first post My son is 7 weeks (almost eight weeks) old. When is the right age to move them to their own room? Right now he sleeps in the PNP next to my side of the bed and my husband and I have been thinking about moving him but I'm still feeling a little uneasy about it...

This exactly. DH even fell asleep on the couch last night and didn't wake up when I brought DS down to eat! But I hear every little noise he makes.

So dumb question then... A few of you said you think it's time to move them because they end up at the bottom of the cradle. Is that a sign? Dd ends up in the bottom corner most nights (although not last night - odd). Is there a reason she should move bc of that? I want to move her. I think I'd sleep better but we are upstairs and nursery is down (cape cod style house). I don't like the idea of going downstairs in the middle of the night if I don't have to yet. She is still doing a 3:30 feeding at 8 weeks.

Ultimately, it's what feels right for you and baby. The books say 3-4 months is when their reflexes settle and they start wanting to spread out, and when longer-term habits can be introduced.

We've had our babe in his room since day one, bassinet at first and then crib at a little over a month probably. It's worked great for us! He's 10 weeks now

Ds would do this and smack the sides with his hands. He also had like an inch left of space lengthwise. He's only 10 steps away and he gets up every 2 to 3 hours though.

Thanks for the reassurance ladies! We tried to make the switch last night, but DS was not cooperating! He was struggling to go down, which is not like him. I think it just may have been a coincidence. Going to try again and see if we get different results!

We are transitioning from rnp to crib and its going so-so. She is 9 weeks and usually has one long stretch from 8-1 or 2 then every few hours until 9ish. She goes right down in the crib for the long stretch but wants no part in it for the rest of the night so we put her in the rnp for the remainder.

When we started the transition, I started with when we put him down for the night but then after he woke up the first time then I would bring him back in our room with me. Then I would try putting him down after his second wake up in there. He now only wakes up once or twice at night so he's in there all night long. Sometimes I still bring him to bed with me after 5 or 6 in the morning.

I will second the mobile. It's been the best thing ever. We also have a munchkin projector sound machine which is AMAZING. It is voice activated if LO cries.
