@Amjoy25 : how much ibuprofen per day will put me at risk for stomach ulcers? I know no more than 3 grams of Tylenol so I don't kill my liver, but what's the magic number for ibuprofen?
@comeongetdown is correct. You can take 800mg 3 times a day which is 2400mg. However, any amount of an NSAID is going to put you at risk for a stomach ulcer, but taking the as directed dose is always wise.
Thanks @comeongetdown! Really any insight was welcome, just thought Amjoy might be the most likely to know.
So far I haven't taken more than 1200 in a day, but when I go back to work on Thursday, I imagine I might need more continuous coverage, and I don't want to end up with mo' problems.
I hurt my knee playing soccer, I think a patellar dislocation. Had to call off work for 2 days, but don't want to miss any more work. It's feeling much better, but need to make sure I have a plan of action for any pain when I go back to work.

Have you tried alternating acetaminophen with ibuprofen? If you take less of both you can potentially minimize side effects but I agree with Amjoy, any dose of ibu can cause ulcers. If you are taking it short term and not chronically you should be ok though.

I have not tried that, but maybe I will, thanks for the advice! Like I said, I've only taken 1200 or less per day since I injured it (today so far only 400). I really prefer no pain meds, but need to be able to function on Thursday and Friday.
