Trying to Get Pregnant

Not sure of my symptoms

I went off of birth control and my H and I have had sex several times.  Over the weekend I felt off on Sunday. I had a headache and just felt strange...I can't quite pinpoint it.  I almost felt a little out of it and very tired.  Sunday evening and yesterday morning I felt nauseous but not to the point that I felt I would vomit.  Monday night and this morning it feels as if I have cramping in my lower abdomen, especially on my left side.  It feels like there is pressure and cramping at the same time and when I was laughing last night in bed while watching TV, it was uncomfortable/mildly sore feeling like if I did too many crunches.  I also feel like I have had to pee a lot.  I've googled some of these symptoms and it says I might be pregnant but I am trying to wait and see if I have a period coming and if I would skip it...I just went off bc and i'm not sure when my period could be.  Any ideas if this sounds like early pregnancy? Would it be worth buying a pregnancy test?

  • I agree with PP. Sounds like you might be getting ovulation pain. Go buy some HPTs, take one now and if negative then take in 2 weeks.

  • Yeah what PP's have said - if you're having true pregnancy symptoms you would turn a positive test. If you're off BC - then investing in tests is something you'll have to do anyway. But honestly this could just as easily be PMS.
  • I just didn't want to run out and buy a test if it's nothing.  I don't want to talk about this with my mother or any other close women because we're not really telling anyone that we're TTC.  We're really not TTC yet but just wanted to get off pills and let my body do its own thing.  Just wanted to if these symptoms are nothing or if it's best to buy a test.  Like I said, I didn't want to get too anxious and rush out at the first time I feel something different with my body.
  • Nope.

If you had unprotected sex then you could be pregant.  You could also be getting ready to get your period.  There is no way we could know the answer.  Some people like peeing on sticks, some people like waiting.  If you like POS, buy a test.  If you don't want to waste your money, wait until you miss your period.

    Edit for spelling.

  • Go buy a test. It's too early for this.
  • I know you are saying that you don't want to get overly anxious and just rush out and buy a test for no reason, but if you are already googling symptoms and coming onto a pregnancy message board, you are already at the point where you should probably have pregnancy tests on hand.

No judgment, I also kept a supply on hand.

  • I know that when you come off birth control you can have side effects that mimmick early pregnancy symptoms but it's just your body's reaction to coming off of the pill.

But I need to know the exact dates!

    No, not really.

You are hypersensitive since you are just coming off BC.  Just buy some pregnancy tests or wait it out, but symptom spotting will only make you crazy.

  • I agree with everyone. You'll never know unless you take a test. Or it could be PMS. After I went off bc, my body was all out of whack and I had a lot of those things. It's easy to read into everything but you're going to drive yourself crazy if you do that. Take the test and if it's negative then it's negative and just give your body adjust to the change in hormones.

  • TTC has a way of making you absolutely, positively have every fucking pregnancy symptom ever. For no reason and certainly not because you are pregnant half the time.

  • To answer your question @starbuck27, I do feel like some people were helpful.  I did Google and it made it seem like I could be pregnant but I wanted to post somewhere that I could explain my symptoms and someone could say if they have had something similar or if it's nothing and to just carry on.  Some people can be so sarcastic and rude....i didn't come on here for judgement and people to criticize me, I came here to ask a question and advice on a website where you should feel free to ask questions and get advice from people who are going through similar things.  This is all new to me and i don't want to be thinking every change in my body is pregnancy related...if I can chat back and forth with people who may have the same experiences or advice, I can feel better about making decisions going forward.  Like I said in a previous comment, I don't want to talk with my mother about this since my H and I are trying to keep it quiet and just let things run their course so without having anyone to turn to, I wanted to go somewhere that I can talk with people and get advice...not rude comments and criticism.

@Izzygirl14‌ Not sure if someone already shared this, but the month after I went off the pill I had a lot of crazy symptoms, many of which you're describing. Bad cramps, painful breast sensitivity, increased CM, week later than expected period. I found that after that first cycle things really calmed down and I obviously wasn't pregnant. It could be your body adjusting. Like the PP said though, a HPT is the sure fire way to know.

If you're having sex without protection, you could be pregnant. As far as whether your symptoms are related to pregnancy, I'm not sure what you were expecting us to tell you. Could they be? Sure. Have others had them & been pregnant? Of course. Are you pregnant? I have no clue because you're just a random stranger on the internet & I'm not sure how to confirm pregnancy via interwebz.

  • You are totes pregnant.  I'm guessing that's what you want to hear.  No reason to take a test, I'm an expert.

  • OP, do yourself a favor and don't google pregnancy symptoms. You will drive yourself crazy. Some people start a normal 28 day cycle the second they toss their BC pack, and get pregnant their first cycle. Hell, some women get pregnant while on BC. And some women take months to merely ovulate after coming off birth control. And cramps, fatigue, bloating, changes in moods, acne, nausea, and a host of other issues can be related to pregnancy or unrelated. So, the fact that Jane Doe quit BC, ovulated 2 weeks later, and found herself pregnant with the very same symptoms you have means absolutely nothing as far as whether or not you are pregnant.

Take a test or wait it out, but for own sanity, don't try and match up your own 'symptoms' with pregnancy symptoms.
