Work

Sooooo the boy I nanny for is pissing me the hell off. He is so annoying. CONSTANTLY mean and nasty to his sister. I mean seriously constantly. She'll say "the sky is blue" and he will go "the sky isn't blue and you're ugly." I mean everything the child says and does he mocks. It's sick. I've gotten to the point where I don't give a fuck anymore. I know that's bad but I'm like...I'm too tired to punish this 12 year old and getting paid $8 an hour isn't enough for this. The mom says punishment is sending him to his room, but he LOVES to be in his room and spends 85% of the day in there on his own any way. It's also not worth trying to figure out something because next week, he will be gone on a trip, then I will have him back for a week, then they both go to their dad's in GA for two weeks, then I have them for another two weeks...so I only have him for another 3 weeks really. I took the movies away from them today but it's hell on me when we have to sit at home all friggin day. I get them out so they are quiet and leave me the hell alone. The little girl is sweet but I just can't take the big brother pre teen ugliness.

  • Sounds like my DD and my niece. They're constantly screaming at each other. I know the kids you nanny for are older but can you maybe redirect them to different activities so they don't interact with each other?

  • If he wants to be in his room and acts out so that he can go there, why not try a different punishment? I'm trying to remember what my mother did, because my brothers were like that. I mean, it sounds like this kid is too old to be put in the corner, maybe tell him his new punishment is to sit next to you completely silent for 2 min and the 2 min starts over every time he says something or asks a question. And tell him he can't play with anything while he's sitting there. He has to be still and silent. And also, tell the sister she can't interact with him since he's being punished.
