My son is almost 4, over the past couple of weeks, he can't seem to walk or stand without holding onto his crotch. It's totally a subconscious thing, we have talked about it with him, but it won't stop!

Do I just ignore it? Politely remind him to let go? It's natural, so I don't want him to feel bad....

Sorry! Totally didn't mean to make it a stereotype! I have a daughter as well who's 5, and I haven't gone through it with her, hence my lack of experience.

If We are in public i tell ds to stop, but at home i tend to ignore it a little more. He is exploring his body so I try to make it nbd.
