Trying to Get Pregnant

Warning about Clearblue Digital with Weeks Estimator

I spent yesterday really upset and fairly certain I was going to lose my pregnancy because of these tests. We have been trying for our third baby and I have had a chemical pregnancy and an early miscarriage in the last 4 months. Long story short(er) I had a blood draw on 11 dpo showing my hcg to be 30.5. I then had a draw on 13 dpi showing my hcg to be 104. So yesterday (15dpo) I was kind of excited to see the 2-3 weeks readout and bought a 3 pack of clear blue digital with weeks estimator. It showed 1-2 with first morning urine. According to the Clearblue info line it should change to 2-3 when your hcg is 157. I was immediately a bit crushed but trying to make sense of it. Held my urine for 5 hours with no liquids, still 1-2. My poor husband was trying to convince me that they were just junky tests and even the insert said the accuracy of the weeks estimator ranged between 44 and 98 percent. Took the third in the 3 pack (if you're thinking I shouldn't have even been testing after a good blood test you're right) and it also said 1-2.
This morning at 7:30 am my beta hcg was 382. Way above 157. This was really agonizing for me and I just wanted to share it in case someone is googling desperately about it because of these tests.

  • I was not aware of this at all . Where did you hear about the levels?

I learned about the levels by calling the 1800 number- a little obsessed here, haha. But yes, they are awful!! I know some are good and work perfectly but if you're the one who gets the bad batch its not ok.
  • And the poor OP used 3 of them.. looks like Clear Blue is doing a great job selling these things. Uncool manufacturer... uncool

  • Isn't there a table on the package with the ranges for its "1-2 weeks" HCG ranges, etc.? I swear there was one on the package I looked at the other day.
  • I am sorry about your losses and the trouble and worry that this caused, but how is this any different than shoving an obvious pee stick in our faces? Please move on to first tri and post this there.

  • I took two of those tests past two days and keep getting "not pregnant."  FRER and Wondfo's show very faint lines.  Made me worry about having a CP.  They really should be taken off the market.

Maybe I'm feeling charitable, but to me this has less to do with 'woohoo I'm pregnant bitches!' And more to do with 'don't buy this crap product because it freaked me out.' Seems to me this is a fair thing to tell a group of women who would be in the market for pregnancy tests.

Fair enough. I'll take my crappy mood to bed :)
