I'm glad you looked into it. Unfortunately lipties are not easily fixed like tongue ties are.
We're going to do the same, let her be until either I notice it affecting her speech or once her adult teeth come in and it's still there. I kinda think it's adorable, dd's little "imperfection" makes her extra cute in my eyes.
D's gap is pretty adorable! I was kind of hoping that if it was clipped that it would help our breastfeeding out, but the dentist didn't think so.
He said she has a pretty fibrous lip tie, more so than others. He still doesn't think it should be an issue though!
Mine has a lip tie. I'm currently waiting for a referral to get her seen and I'm hoping they'll do something about it. She already has signs of decay, despite always being diligent about cleaning her mouth.
Wet have a stage four lip tie, but because it has never affected breastfeeding, the specialist recommended not lasering it just yet. She said we'll reevaluate in a year when he has teeth. She also mentioned that a lot of times kids 'release'it on their own by falling on their mouth when they learn to walk or what not (ouch!).

I didn't know they staged it. All he said was it was pretty fibrous compared to what he usually sees.

On my local moms group. I guess it happens quite a bit. I would think that would be painful. Hope it don't happen. Plus the way the mouth bleeds.

Yeah, stage 4 is the worst I guess? It was surprising to me since we've never had BFing issues. I'm assuming we'll also have a gap. The specialist said to be really mindful of brushing their teeth as there is a greater chance of tooth decay.
Btw, D is so cute...and I think the gap just adds to her charm :-).
Everyone has a frenulum. However in a tie the frenulum goes down and attached at where the the top two teeth come in. I suppose maybe you could have a tie higher up...maybe. This is all new to me.
I can confirm that a lot of kids tear theirs when they fall... DD did recently and my nephew did at around a year, as well. Happens. Painful for a minute and then forgotten.

You should be able to see the tie. If you look at the inside of the lip. It was pretty obvious once I looked.
