Compromise

Has anyone not been 100% sure of their compromise baby name? Is this something you grew to love or something you regretted and wished you kept after a name you liked better. I don't dislike the name since we compromised just wondering if I should just suck it up and say we both had names we liked better but we had to meet in the middle.

My son's name was our compromise name, and I now can't imagine him with any other name. It's perfect, and I love it. I liked it when we chose it, but it definitely wasn't my first choice at the time.

Our daughter's middle name is Michelle. I wasn't in love with it, but I liked it I guess. It's my fiance's mom's middle name, so he really wanted it. I really preferred our other options, but he wasn't having any of them. So I settled. I've just learned to live with it. It's probably easier since it's a middle name, though.

I agree with Sharksfan- if you like it (even if it isn't number 1) the name will just become so associated with your kid that it will feel right, usually. I'm sure that isn't true if you hate the name, but otherwise I think that is what happens. The other option is one of you uses a name they dislike, which can be tough so I think compromise is the name of the game.

I think all our names have been compromises.  Some compromises work better than others.  DH still mentions the name he preferred for DD2 and it took me a long time to be confident in our choices when I introduced our girls, but I wouldn't change either of them.

DH and I don't use compromise names either he compromises or I compromise so at least one of us strongly like/love the name we chose.
DD1 was my pick and DD2 was DH's pick.

With DD2 it was very hard for me to compromise after the initial glow but everytime I thought to approach changing her name I couldn't. Her name just fit even before she was born.

We went to the hospital with 3 names- my favorite, H's favorite and a compromise name (that we both liked, but I wasn't 100% sold).

We wound up with the compromise name, and honestly I can't imagine her with either of the other 2 names.
