Leaving your kid in the car

Ok, so I try hard not to even think about these stories but my sister kept bringing this one up over the weekend.  How the F do you expect anyone with or without kids to believe you FORGOT your kid was IN THE CAR?  Then your wife goes to pick up your kid at day care and discovers the kid isn't there and the first think out of her mouth is "Oh, he must have left him in the car."   WTF is wrong with people that they can murder their own kids?  There is absolutely NO WAY I could ever forget my kid was in the car or harm her intentionally.  I just don't understand.  These are the types of sick bastards that need the punishment to fit the crime.

Re: Leaving your kid in the car

  • In this particular case -- yup, the guy was an asshole kid murderer.

I can very, very easily see how it could happen though. I had an incident when I was sleep deprived with an infant, stressed, really sick, and off my normal schedule where I drove all the way to work with a sleeping baby in the backseat. Thanks to the news stories about this sort of thing, I always put my purse in the backseat to make sure I'd never forget her and in my foggy brain, I didn't even remember she was in there until I reached back to get it. I shudder to think what would have happened otherwise. I like to think that I'd have remembered but none of us are perfect.

  • My brother is an Emt and he said it is a horrible horrible death. You basically cook from the inside out. That man deserves to rot in hell.
The closest I ever got was driving toward work instead of toward daycare but after a few blocks I was like where am I going?!?!
  • @jellybean529‌ I also put my purse in the back. Granted, DS hates car rides so I couldn't forget a screaming kid. I still do put it back there. It doesn't take any extra effort.

I feel truly sorry for the parents who have this happen accidentally. This asshole? I support the death penalty here.

I don't get it but I don't judge on this issue. I don't carry a purse anymore, sooo if I'm grabbing a diaper bag, that means I have a baby I need to grab. It's also helpful that E comes with me every freaking where I go since I'm solo. When I go back to work, maybe a different story but I'll find a way to remind myself. A photo on the dash and her name or something. I don't see myself ever forgetting but will take extra steps. I just don't understand how car makers haven't invented a sensor that goes off and a light on the dash or something saying there is extra weight back there.

I did have a couple panic attacks when she was about 6 weeks old in Florida when I'd go to sleep without her and she'd be with my mom. I absolutely went nuts and started looking for her in a panic and then realized my mom had her.

  • I believe there is a special level in hell for the sub-humans that do this shit intentionally. And while I have not encountered a trip where I have forgotten DD in the car, I can see how it could happen. But, for now, I won't defend anyone because in this particular case, these people deserve to be tortured. Perhaps someone should do to these fuckers what they did to their child. On a nice hot day, drive somewhere and park in an unshaded area, strap them snuggly to the (leather) seats, roll up the windows, and walk the fuck away. I don't usually wish death on people, but these motherfuckers need to die. You don't want your kid? There are organizations and WILLING PARENTS out there that can't have kids of their own who would MORE THAN GLADLY TAKE YOUR CHILD. Regardless of age.

  • I mean, I can't get myself to wrap my brain on the kind of person/scumbag that would think "I don't like being a parent. Think I'll kill my kid. Maybe in the worst way possible." How?? We should also sterilize them very painfully before roasting them in a car.

Sorry, when I get upset, my thoughts don't always make sense.

  • @20thirteen‌ Seriously! Why not just give your child up? If they're worried about other people judging them, you would get judged less for that than for killing your baby. I just don't get it. I really don't.
  • @Ladyoriza i unfortunatley think this is one of those sensless tragedies we will never be able to understand or comprehend.

I dont feel i can say to much more on this topic because it just hurts my heart to much.

My sister told me one of the parents (the mom I think) said this world was too horrible for their child.  Yeah well, then you shouldn't have had a kid then, asshole.  Sometimes I think we should be like China.  You need to get a license or whatever to have each kid.

My aunt has foster kids and has really had some great sibling groups.  The last one was a group of 5 siblings all 5 and under when she got them.  The parents never bothered to go to any of the court hearings and did nothing to get their kids back.  Someone told my aunt they saw the mom somewhere.  Pregnant again.  I'd love to spork this woman in the eyes.  The first 5 of her kids ended up being seperated and went to 3 different families.  One is still in foster care.  :((
