2 Year Molars

So I'm pretty sure Hannah is teething her two year molars (she is 18 months) She has been drooling a ton, and I think I feel some bumps in the back of her mouth. But the issue is last night. She was so brutal!!! She would only sleep if she was snuggling with one of us, she wouldn't nurse, she just kept screaming and crying. I could tell she was in pain and upset but we couldn't find our Oraljel, and we were out of Tempra. It just wasn't a good night for anybody.

So do you guys think it's teething? How long did it last for you LO's? I don't know how much more of this I can handle!

Has she had a cold recently? Could it be an ear infection? Have you tried ibuprofen? It works better than Tylenol ime.

I would think molars, ulers, cold sores or ear infection. With kids you never know. Now I want to go home and check if my son has his molars!

It's possible, I guess?  I am starting to believe that those teeth take forever to actually come out.  Maybe they are moving down the gum?  M is 20m and for the past month his night time sleep has been off.  He normally STTN but this past month he's been waking up MOTN and cry.  Not every night but at least 3-4nights/week.  Some nights he goes back to sleep fine but other nights needs soothing.  He also has gotten grumpy and super clingy the past few weeks too.  I'm not holding my breath however... those 4 canines took 6 weeks to come through and I know the 2 yr molars will take even longer.

Hm..does M wake up the exact same time every night? My son did wake up twice for a few nights a week at the exact same time screaming bloody murder from having night terrors. But he once awakened he was fine. Wonder if it could even be bad dreams?

No advise but 100% commiseration you just described my past two nights to a tee. I am very confident it's teething for my LO as she has many of the other tell tale signs (loose poops, diaper rash, ridiculous shininess and crying and clinging )...... But I can't figure out what tooth. She has one more bottom molar she's still working on but she keeps putting her fingers in her mouth on the opposite side. All I know is I may seriously lose my shit if I don't get some sleep tonight. Sigh.

@TJ1979 no cold, but I'm starting to think she has allergies cuz she is always coughing but never congested, don't think it's her ear

@Ducky719 ha, I didn't give Hannah much choice lol, I just rammed then in there to see

I noticed today that she has been chewing on her fingers, I'm like fairly certain she is starting teething, she had loose poops recently. I just hope it doesn't take the month and a bit the last molars did

I LOATHE teething and the molars were the worse. DSs molars took forever to come in which made for a painful grumpy kiddo. I used the hylands teething tablets and ice chips. It was difficult to get through. Hang in there mama.

Teething is brutal. L got his one year molars all at once and now 3/4 canines are coming in. I swear the amber necklace is the only way we all stayed sane! GL!

I think we are in the process of getting 3/4 of the canines right now. We've had some rough nights this week, too. A friend's ped told her that there's no real medical reasoning behind it, but that she strongly believes that teeth cut with the moon - and there was that crazy full moon this week. Maybe that's why they're all ganging up on us!

@mcgeeva, no, I don't think M wakes up the same time every night, though TBH, I never look at the clock.  DH is the one who goes down to soothe M (if needed) and doesn't sound like it is the same time.  M is usually grumpy and clingy when he has these night wakings, which makes me believe his teeth are bothering him...  who knows really, right?

I've never heard the moon theory but DD's top right canine just popped this week! I am hoping the rest pop soon. She is miserable.

We went to the dentist when they turned 2 and DD has 18 teeth (so 2 of her 2 yo molars) and DS has 16 teeth (no 2 yo molars). I never noticed when DD got her molars, but she has sleep issues, so it's possible that she was up at night when that happened. They definitely do not let me check for them now!!
