Re: Pregnancy Check In (July 14)

    Morning everyone. :)

Today I am 18w5d and I'm still feeling pretty good.

Last week was a little nerve-racking. I have been experiencing some swelling in my feet and hands. Which I considered normal for pregnancy, but when my MIL found out she suggested I call my dr. right away. Well, my Dr. wanted to see me right away. I had no idea that your hands and feet shouldn't be swelling this early on in my pregnancy. They ran a few tests, bp was a tad high 130/90, they had me lay down for a bit and then they checked it again. It dropped to something like 110/62. I have a feeling part of it being high could also be because my appt was at 2:45 and they didn't call me in to a room until an hour later. I get really frustrated waiting like that when I don't know what is going on. All is ok, I was told to lay off salt and try to keep my feet elevated as much as I can.

I have my next regular dr. appt next monday and my a/s is scheduled for the 25th. I'm excited to see our little nerd again. We haven't seen her since June 2nd.

QOTW:  DW and I are going to go on a small vacation. I really wanted to go to Key West again, but since we are considering Labor day weekend, I don't really want to have to deal with any hurricanes. Been there, done that...and its not worth it while being pregnant.  I think we will end up going to Seattle, neither of us have ever been and we have heard such wonderful things about visiting there.

Hope everyone has a great week!

  • So excited to still be posting here. Each week I get to is a miracle in its own.

We are 9w2d today. This morning we went to RE again despite graduating because of our vacation from hell with bleeding. We got a good report and got to see both babies and hear their heartbeats! Amazing! I couldn't believe how much they've grown from 7 to 9 weeks! Our subchorionic hemorrhage seems to be getting smaller and it wasn't close enough to either baby to have a real fear he said. Will just have to let it be what it is. Dr. Said as good as things look and the fact it's not getting bigger but smaller and both babies are continuing to grow that we are not at any higher miscarriage rate than before.

Cool part of today was that my mom came. I know I've mentioned my mom not being fully supportive before, so having her WANT to go was amazing on its own. So happy she's coming around.

QOTW: well it was going to be our Emerald Isle trip, but that was a nightmare. So idk now. Hopefully baby shopping!

    10 medicated IUI's (3 with injectables).
IUI #1 (medicated) Jan. 2013-BFP!!!!- Beta's didn't double, MTX shot for possible ectopic.
    8 IUI's between April 13-April 14 = BFN
IUI #10 and final before IVF, injectables May 2014- BFP!!!!  TWINS!!!!

7 week ultrasound showed 2 wonderful heartbeats!
8 weeks to the ER with vaginal bleeding while on vacations!  Diagnosed SubChorionic Hemorrhage.  Babies are both great.
9 week ultrasound showed both babies are still great.

  • It is hard to believe that i will be 33 weeks pregnant tomorrow.  I am pretty sure I say this every week, haha.  It is crazy to think that in less than 2 months our little girl will be here.  I feel like I am getting huge, but I am still not gaining weight which is good I guess.  I have to force myself to eat and I have to eat small meals or else I feel super bloated and miserable.  Same with getting enough water and fluids, I feel like there isn't enough room for everything in my belly!  The baby is measuring perfect and all my blood work is coming back good, so my obgyn isn't concerned about the lack of weight gain (I've actually lost a total of 10lbs while pregnant).

QOTD: I am doing what I can to survive this summer heat.  My sister and I might take the kiddos to the zoo tomorrow, the girls love it and it is supposed to be cooler than it has been.  I am also excited for baby K 1st birthday in August.  She has grown so much since she came into our home in February.

  • 34w5d today, EDD 8/20

Everything is going well! We had our weekly appointment today and Simone is still head down (phew!) but did whirl her body around to my left side (which I noticed before the appointment by the giant bulge on that side and the flattening of the right side where her booty had been. Oh and the pressure in my left ribs from her stretching her legs). J's mom is in town and got to join us for her u/s and NST which was fun. I opted to do the nurse practitioner part alone :). We got another smashing 3D u/s - her little face! OMG!

I switch from Lovenox to Heparin at 36w so that is ordered, and my blood sugars have been fantastic which is also reassuring and good news. Our growth scan is two weeks from today (36w5d) and I'll get a cervix check then too. Nothing to complain about - it is getting full in there, I have to eat less at a time and am having to work to get all the fluids in with this heat! But no back or hip pain, sleeping pretty good actually and while my energy is lower, it's still ok.

My body is shifting. I definitely grew a lot in the past week - noticeably. And I've been having intermittent cramps which are new! They feel a little yucky but hey, nice to know that perhaps things are starting to gear up in there. I asked my NP about how they induce, should I end up there, and it was good news. Sounded very reasonable and logical. But I'm still hoping for a spontaneous labor - however, with the GD, they will cut me off on my due date. And since the average in the US is 10 days past your due date, I'm left just hoping and hoping she will come early or on time.

Yesterday was our baby shower and I am wiped out!! It was super fun, great turn out and overall just a lovely day. J's mom came from Arkansas for it, all my sisters (3 of them) plus my mom helped, and we had quite a haul of goodies for Simone! Not too many newborn sizes in the clothes either which was relief! Today I made the thank-you list in Excel, and plan to start organizing and unpacking it all to get it properly stored in the nursery. Only one duplicate item to return too! Not bad! And my mom gave us a generous gift card which will allow us to finish our registry! Anyhow it was pretty special and kind of brought the reality of her being born soon to the next level! YIKES!

QOTW: I suppose all I hope to accomplish is birthing our baby! We are in really good shape preparedness-wise but still a few things to do - hospital bag, diaper service initial delivery, car seats, wills/POA's and starting the 2nd parent adoption process. My sister is off to Manila for work again and borrowed the bag I planned to use for the hospital - whoops! She's back in 10 days, I doubt we'll see any action before that. Otherwise, hoping to make it to my last day of work without incident and then just put up my feet, go for walks and do yoga until she's born!

@rkbo, PM me if you are serious! I LOVE Seattle and can give you some good advice!! Labor day is typically lovely here. If you're into music, our big festival Bumbershoot is that weekend. But there is a ton to do, and I can help guide you on where to stay, etc. :) September is our best month!!!

24 weeks and counting! It's so much fun to feel her moving around in there. I think I'll miss my little passenger when she's out. Although I'll be so happy to hold her! It's so hot where I live! My biggest complaint is being warm all the time. And that's really nothing at all in the scheme of things.

My step sister had her perfect little boy last Thursday so I'm all keyed up to meet this little one in November. It's so much fun seeing my family so excited and knowing we get to do it all again soon. Can't wait to meet him when I'm in town in a few weeks!

Before summer is over I hope to meet with a local lawyer to get C custody papers for our daughter. Our state is a no go for second parent adoptions tight now, but at least we have options!

  • 11 weeks here and "all day sickness" has been ramping up a bit. I haven't actually tossed my cookies, but I have fairly constant nausea that tends to get a bit worse after eating.

Our next appointment is in 2 weeks for our NT scan. We're excited to see "Mikey" again. I find that I spend way too much time worrying about something going wrong, and I'm trying really hard to shake some of that anxiety and focus on positive thoughts.

QOTW - I'm looking forward to starting our registry before the summer is over. I think it will begin to make things more real. :)

    Hi, all!

We are 12w6d today. I'm the non-carrying mom.

Update & News: We have had a lot happen this week, but I've held it until now.  We got the results of the Harmony test and the trisomy results were negative and low risk.  We decided to find out the sex of the baby and the baby is a GIRL!  We are beyond thrilled.  We would have been happy either way (we had a fantastic boy name ready), but we are just thrilled.  The grandmothers are so very happy.

DW feels a little better and not so nauseated, and is having to let her pants out a little.

Yesterday we went to our nuchal transparency scan and they found an elevated number.  It is hard to  know how to feel.  Most folks have the NT done first, then go to the Harmony or other blood test to get a confirmation or reassurance.  Because we went the other way around, I feel like we are more anxious than we would be if we had done it the other way around.  I mean, bad news last always feels worse.  The NT number is not terribly elevated, but enough that we are now treated as a "positive."  The counselor didn't seem very concerned.  We will go in for another in-depth ultrasound August 11 and then an electrocardiogram in September.

The internet seems to indicate a very, very high number of false positives on the NT scan, although the test states it has only a 5% false positive rate.

The counselor suggested that we wait until the next series of scans to decide if we want to do an amnio or CVS.  I don't know that we will want to.  We are okay with what happens.  Yes, maybe we could be "more prepared," but I doubt it, really.  The baby will be whomever she is.

All the other parts looked fantastic.  The doc looked at her heart for a very long time (because heart defects can cause an elevated NT number), and said it looked very good.  Her stomach is functioning and her brain has two good hemispheres.  She is moving and sleeping and looks very healthy, otherwise.

I just know it will be fine.  It irks me that a silly, not-terribly-accurate test can put a cloud over our pregnancy, but such is life.  It's only a cloud if we think it's going to rain.  Otherwise it is a little shade on a sunny day.

We decided not to tell friends and family.  We know that some of our family members wouldn't be able to look past the fear, when really it is just such a wonderful time.  If there is some outcome other than what we expect, or if there is a tragedy, we will deal with that together when the time comes.  But not before.

Here is our fantastic new baby!  She kicks, and I saw her knees, which may have been the cutest things I've ever seen.  I'm so in love with her and I don't even know her yet.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

QOTW: It is endless summer here.  ;) I'm hot and tired and have so much to do.  I got a job, so I'm going to have to do that in September.  Today, I want to take the recycling in, get our headlight on the car fixed, and order a new visor for the car.  By September 1, I hope we have a minivan.  But we'll see!  Other projects to complete?  Well, I'm working on massive cleaning of our home.  I also need to order new covers for our living room set.  I have to write this down. :)

  • @cageymack - The Harmony test WAY trumps the NT! If your Harmony came back with no trisomies, you don't have any. Now I think it's wise to get the echo later (it's just a LONG, detailed u/s of her heart) as a check/balance, but honestly, I don't think you have a thing to worry about!! And IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!!!!! I'm stoked about her girl-ness.  My mom said maybe we should have another so W isn't the lone boy. :)

  • @cageymack - Ha! Poor W! He'll definitely be a man who puts the toilet seat down :)

And, I didn't mean to discount your worry about the NT scan - believe me as someone who had a great NT and then got a trisomy diagnosis that doesn't impact NT :( So I get it. Believe me, in addition to the same sigh you speak of, I also ended up with a lot of tears and worry. Still worry. :( But like you, she will be who she will be! I think your baby is just fine but I get it.

  • @2MamazInSeattle‌ - I didn't feel dismissed; I felt totally supported! :). It really is reassuring to hear that you think what I think. I appreciate modern medicine, but sometimes it is so thorough as to be alarming. Sometimes I fall into the "ignorance is bliss" camp. :)

  • Hey,

As stated in our intro, A and I are not used to keeping up with discussion boards.  We've been absorbed with birth month group and forgot to check in here, sorry.  We've still been lurking around this group and plan to be more active over here though.

  • As always, I am late. We are 29w1d today. Sleep is an elusive idea right now. Can't get comfortable and then when I do, I have to get up and pee. The girls are VERY active. Sometimes it is almost painful b/c Olivia keeps trying to move into areas that do not have that much space LOL. Mood swings have hit hard core and I am pretty pissy lately. I haven't had that the entire pregnancy, at least not as hardcore or consistent. It isn't fun for either of us

QOTW: What are you still looking forward to getting to do or accomplishing before summer is over? I would like to finish setting up baby room and preparing the baby bag. Not really any other plans. Oh, and welcoming my new nephew. My SIL is due next week!

  • hey mamas,

First time posting in updates.  DW and I are having b/g twins, I'm carrying.  26.2 weeks along (hey, that's a marathon!) and we had a few scary moments in the beginning with bleeding and hospital stays but the babies and pregnancy are perfect.  Start our buweekly appointments now with the MFM and that's kind of exciting since we are getting closer...  We watched the babies today on the US, head-to-head and hands-to-hands.  So damn cute.  Pregnancy itself is getting trickier with getting around (LOTS of pelvic pain and tire quickly) but all is expected.

QOTW: Hmmm, hard to say, really.  Each start of a new month is exciting as it brings us closer to meeting the babies...  It's almost August!  Our kids are having a fun summer with equal parts camp stuff and chilling at home.  Really nice.
