Bfest Monday

Re: Bfest Monday

  • I bought a new pair of shoes last weekend and wore them for the first time today. They DESTROYED my pinkie toes. The blisters have blisters. I'm so pissed.

  • Missanniewc82   I totally agree! DH wants me to let lo cio but he's only 3 months old --- not a chance buddy! I'm willing to let him make a little noise before I pick him up to see if he falls back asleep on his own, but I just think he is way too young to cio.

DH had lo last week for the whole day by himself, and let him cio after he failed several times to put lo down for a nap peacefully. I was full of anxiety the entire day just thinking about him crying at home. :/

  • @ShellsBells1980 look into Young Living essential oils. I've heard that one of them called Valor on your wrists once or twice a day does wonders for vertigo. If nothing else, it'll make you feel more confident and happy! ^_^

  • I have another. I have put LO in everything we own crib, pack n play, rock n play, bouncer, swing, on the her mat, in our bed, on me, wrapped up on me and she wouldn't nap. I just drove around for over an hour to get to her nap. Came in and woke up again. Fed her and she still isn't happy. Gave her Tylenol thinking it might be her teeth. My bitch is that I can't win today.

We are going through the same thing at my house.
  • This is why I am so mad at her ignorance. I unfortunately had to hold my twin niece and nephew at 21 and 23 weeks. They did not survive. It just rubs me the wrong way.

I'll look into that, thanks. I did try the sickness wrist bands for morning sickness, they did nothing, but at this point (just like then) i'll try anything people suggest :D

I highly suggest looking into any and all YL oils. The ones I use most often are peppermint (headaches, bad breath, cooking, cooling in hot/humid weather, relieving wasp/bee/mosquito bites and stings), lemon (metabolism boost), fennel (relieves constipatipation in LO, and increases BM supply in me), frankincense (cuts, bruises, abrasions, diaper rash, insect bites, etc.), and melaleuca (PP acne!)

They're not overnight miracles, but they do work!

My MIL tried to give my 3 yo an entire can of diet coke yesterday. Umm, no. I get that grandma wants to give treats and spoil him, but she had already given him pancakes slathered in syrup for breakfast and cookies for a snack. He's an extremely energetic kid without all the sugar, plus we had a 4 1/2 hr drive home.

So, you know you've just dug a hole for yourself right? If i find any of this stuff, or other stuff, i'm going to be bugging the hell out of you to tell me what it's for...lol
    :P

They have books for that; promise they know more than I do lol I have one called "Gentle Babies" that I use when I don't know which oil to use for a particular problem involving LO. They have a giant comprehensive explaination book too, with pages upon pages for every oil they have. I wish I had it, TBH.

  • I just warmed up my first of my frozen stash. It smelled awful. Like grass or something. Lo refused it. Now I'm freaking out that my whole stash is trash. I was planning on donating what I didn't need. I had over 150oz! I'm devastated. But I'm going to try again with a more recent bag and just pray

I don't like late intros and lurkers.

But those who don't intro or lurk to get a feel for the board before posting always (nearly always) get called out on it...on almost ALL boards?
I'm talking about this board. It's annoying because, unlike everyone else that HAS been here and participated, we don't know jack about said lurker. Most of the creepers have been weeded out by now.

    most! **cackles creepily**

  • Mine is that my period showed up exactly one week late. Meaning that instead of having a sucky 4th of July weekend, our birthday-anniversary-birthday weekend had no sexual activity. Just ruined 3 pairs of underwear, and a pair of khaki shorts. Suuuuuch a sucky period. :((

  • I have another one. I'm over working 40+ hours a week. I just can't take it anymore. I literally just broke down crying over it tonight. I don't know what to do, but I can't keep doing this. I feel my anxiety starting back up every single morning I have to get out of bed and get Addie to the sitters. I only get to see her 2 hours out of the day. It's just not enough. I'm seriously becoming depressed and it's just not fair to me or my daughter. I hate America.

I feel the same way! I cry about it constantly to MH. I have been looking for a new job, but with no luck. I wish I could just stay home, but it's not possible. I hope things get better for you.

Ok I totally feel you on this- I JUST WANT ALL THE PIZZAAAAAAA!! I freaking miss cheese so much lately. I hope the midwife was right when she said LO should grow out of it between 4 and 6 months!! I did so well at a birthday party this weekend to not eat taco dip, cake and ice cream, cheese platter etc but I'm sick of this shit :(

Good job on the birthday party! I'm heading into a cottage weekend without dairy...,
I'm totally asking the woman doing our baptism cake to make it dairy free just so i can eat it. I also just want pizza because of the cheese and normally pizza is not on the list of favorite foods.

Oh, I ANOTHER one. I would have put this in the judgy thread, but people want that to die so i'll drop this here.

We have asbestos on the plot next to our garage, the plot belongs to someone else, and they're doing nothing to remove it. There are kids playing in that stuff, and both me and DH have told their parents at least 5 times each about it and how dangerous it is. Have they told their kids to stay away? No, they damn well haven't! I've been out back and been brutally honest with the kids about asbestos being fatal and why they shouldn't play on it, now their parents give me REALLY dirty looks on the street. Yeah sorry (not sorry), but i don't want your kids to have serious health problems even if you don't care!

That sucks.  It does take between 10-40 years for it to take effect.  So maybe they won't be around for you to see it?  ;) It freaks me out too, though.  I've been in places with it before and I worry about it one day down the road!

Oh i know it takes years to develop (so to speak), but i just wish they'd keep there kids away now and prevent future illness, possibly death. our garage has an asbestos roof (we didn't build it), and we're looking for a fully insured company to come and safely remove it so we can put a new safer roof on. I suppose this is where i'd happily judge and argue to the death with anyone who wanted to flame me for this IRL or on the internet. Asbestos is shit, it's a shame it costs so much to deal with it :(

It takes 10-40 years for mesothelioma to develop, but the other diseases don't have a latency period. If it is truly loose asbestos it should be reported. What form is it in? In the US knowingly leaving unencapsulated asbestos can be a criminal offense. I don't know the policies in the UK.

Also if your garage roof is intact and not flaking it's usually safer to just leave it. You can cover over it. Is it ceiling tiles?
  • Unless you are cutting it the corrugated sheets shouldn't pose an harm. Definitely have a professional look but abatement is usually cost prohibitive. What is the form of the asbestos in the neighboring lot?

lol, there is no "form" it's broken up all over the floor, this is why i'm wondering about taking the police to see it, then round to the guys house who rents it, i've even considered shaming him by sending letters to ALL the neighbours about it...childish it may be, but safer for the kids at least.

How do you know it's asbestos? Sorry for the 20 questions, this is just my career and I'm trying to understand. I have never heard of loose piles outside of mining communities and old naval yards. The police probably won't be able to do anything. If it's truly asbestos the route would be media. There is a legal
  • @babylimas if I took a pic later, you think you could confirm?

No I can't ID it, sorry. I work on the legal end so I just know about abatement, exposure and a lot of the medical stuff. A lot of materials can mimic asbestos and people tend to say asbestos generically. It poses such a hazard that I would assume if the council knows about it and isn't taking action, it's not asbestos. Exposure to raw flaking asbestos can be extremely dangerous as you obviously know! If you confirm it's actually asbestos and they refuse to take action I would consider contacting media. Here you could also report to the health department and they would inspect and force compliance.
