I don't know if we have had a thread like this. The thread about hedgehogs the other day got me to thinking....I wonder what pets everyone on this forum has? Bonus points for pictures. :@) 3:-O ~:>
We have a 7 1/2yr old pit mix named Pretty. She came with the name from a good friend in college who saved her from a bad situation before joining the Navy. She's been the best dog, especially with the kids. Her pic is in my siggy, but here's another for everyone in mobile :-)
We have a million year old chocolate lab that we got when she was 8. Such a sweetie but she's really slowed down a lot this last year. Also have a 6 year old GSD mix. She's my love, but I think she may be mixed with a dingo.
This picture is from 2010 before Boris, the orange tabby, passed away. His sister, Nadya the tuxedo, brother, Vlad the black and white, and adopted sister, Sophie the tortoiseshell, are still with us. They are all great with L, but Vlad puts up with the most attention from him.
The cat we adopted about a year and a half ago and he is so big and so bad. DH decided to call him Joe. I don't think that I have any pictures of him on here. He will be 3 next month.
The dog is my other little baby. Her name is Scarlett and she is a cockapoo. She will be 3 in October. She is such an affectionate little dog. She snuggles me all of the time and if E or I are crying (or pretending to cry) she is right there with kisses and snuggles.
No pets here. I had a box turtle when I was a kid, and we had rabbits for years, but I don't see us ever having pets for our kids.
. Why not? Our life would be so empty without ours
I am just not an animal person. I think you have to really be able to love an animal in order to deal with the work, and put up with the crap that comes with having an animal in your house ( sometimes literal), and I just don't have that in me.

That's cool. I'm glad you realize that about yourself. Way too many get pets, just because, and end up neglecting them, abandoning hem, etc
We have two dachshund-poodle mix rescues. Heidi and Hector, they are 5 years old. Still not quite sure about this human sister business. They were formerly spoiled rotten and will be again once LO is a bit more mobile.
We also have six hens who are "pets"-3 Rhode Islands, one of which thinks she's a roo, and 3 Barred rocks-for any chicken people out there. They'll be retired to the freezer once they quit laying well, probably another year or so.
We had a betta fish named Shen, who sadly passed away a few months ago. No other pets. D is crazy allergic to dogs and cats. Snakes, gerbils, hampsters, etc. freak me out.
We got Meeko and Eevee, as kittens when a feral cat had kittens in a neighbor's barn in 2008. They're litter mates so they get along very well. Meeko is dd's cat and is a male, and Eevee is ds1's cat and is a female. Eevee likes to think she is ds2's watch cat. She will curl up next to him and she will allow him to do almost anything and when she decides shes had enough, she just moves to the other side or jumps down.
Dh had 2 dogs when we met and so our household almost consisted of 2adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. Unfortunately, Amber escaped the yard and got hit by a car. She recovered from her injuries only to develop a fast growing tumor in her abdomen a couple months later so she died the day dh and I bought my engagement ring. Dh's other dog, Allie, died a little over a year ago at the ripe old age of 13-14....I forget which year dh got her. Allie made a liar out of dh. He told me she was skittish and slow to warm up to people. No sooner did he say that the day I met her and she was leaning up against my leg for a back scratch. He claims Allie picked me for him. Ironically, she never did warm up to my brother.

I have a 1 year old Brittany Spaniel, Bailey and a little domestic shorthair named Lucy Lou that's 2.
My parents have had Brittanys my whole life. Sweet but crazy dogs. Their last Brittany passed away a month ago and now just have a black lab and German short haired pointer.
As for me, we have two rescues, a pointer mix, Enzo, and a Jack Russell-dachshund mix, Stu (avatar). Stu is almost 3 and we have no idea how old Enzo is.
Enzo loves wearing clothes, I'm not just weird or mean like that. I think he likes the attention, mostly. And Stu with my sister.
@MLC1990 - your Brittany is adorable! What's their temperament like? DH thought about getting one for a hunting and family dog. Are they crazy high energy?
We have Skylar, a parakeet that we got when we rented and weren't allowed to have furry pets. He has a lot of personality for such a little pet. we also have Beatrix, a wonderful Irish setter/choc lab mix. She's the sweetest dog and loves the baby so much. Don't know how to post a pic from my phone.
I figure I should add my pups since I am the one who started this post....
We have a 13 yr old (approx.) rescued pug. We got her 4 years ago. She had an eye infection, ear infection, rotting teeth, chunks coming off of her nose, was obese and is blind. But as soon as I sat on the floor in a pen full of rescue pugs she crawled in my lap and I had to have her. We got her all fixed up and named her Charlotte.
We also have a 3 yr old rescued chinese crested mix. She was found on the side of the highway in a cooler with her litter mates. She was only a few weeks old and completely hairless. We thought she was a pure bred crested but obviously she is not. We have no idea what she is mixed with. Her name is Ursula.
She could be a mexican hairless dog. They are like chinese crested, only bigger. Also, can I come to your house and feed your pug watermelon? I love watching pugs eat watermelon. It's so silly looking.
@potterowl I love that you have your dogs' packs loaded down! We do the same with ours when we go hiking. Also, where was that backpacking pic taken? Looks amazing!

They carry their own food. That was in the gore range a few years ago. It was brisbanes first trip so he was just carrying food bowls.

Here is E with Scout, Soda, and Simon (respectively.) Sam and E aren't such good friends.

One day we'd like to get a couple dogs and some chickens. DH and I were both raised on mini farms.
